all travelers,

are readers,

On the long road of life,

Finding a way to save Schrödinger's cat

reading × travel

Reading is a lonely journey, and traveling is also a kind of reading in action.

When you open a book and walk into a strange city, you must have a trace of awe and courage.

What's going on there, what kind of life are people living there.

As a reader, I am just a bystander from God's perspective,

As a traveler, I am just a visitor here.

Perhaps in the vicissitudes of life, we can only leave a sigh.

But every word we read and every step we take is a kind of salvation.

Save that Schrödinger's cat that's locked inside us.

——Shenwei

Schrödinger's cat theory

Austrian physicist Erwin Schrödinger is one of the founders of quantum mechanics. He hypothetically placed a cat in an airtight box with a device that has a 50% chance of killing the cat within one hour. .

At the end of that hour, he asked the question, is the cat alive or dead now? Common sense tells us that cats are either alive or dead.

However, Schrödinger pointed out that according to quantum physics, the moment before opening the box, the cat is both alive and dead, that is, the cat is in a mixed state of life and death at the same time.

Only by opening the box can we know whether the cat is alive or dead. Until then, the cat is always in a state of chaotic possibility, both alive and dead.

read, read the world

Read the stories in the book, read your own life

travel and reading, body and soul

are on the way

Special theme for Book Day on April 23:

#Reading and Traveling

#Talk about books and the distance

Q1: "Traveling and reading, one of the body and the soul is always on the road." What do reading and traveling mean to you?

as for me,

Reading and traveling are actually the same thing.

The former seems simple, but sometimes it takes two or three months to read a book to understand;

The latter may seem difficult, but take it as a kind of exploration, and the boat will naturally go straight to the bridge.

In my observation, many people can't read, just like many people can't travel.

When they read books and meet people who are different and different from ordinary people, they can't accept it, and accuse the author of polluting their eyes;

When they travel, encounter accidents, and when their plans fail to keep up with changes, even if the plane is delayed or they get lost and find the wrong place, they will be frustrated.

For me, reading and traveling are all about leaving the comfort zone, finding a different way of life, meeting different people, and experiencing joys, sorrows and joys.

There is only one kind of life and one kind of thinking, which makes me dissatisfied.

Is there any way that we can expand our understanding and participation in the world we live in,

Perhaps only through reading and traveling,

In order to let the Schrödinger's cat hidden in our body,

Can survive in more parallel spaces.

Q2: Have you ever set off on a trip because of a book you read?

I often want to go on a trip because of a book I read.

For example, when I read "Pride and Prejudice" when I was a teenager, I yearned to see the beautiful scenery of England described by Jane Austen, such as lake districts, countryside, manors, carriages, small rivers, grasslands...

When reading Wang Shifu's "The Romance of the West Chamber", the descriptions of temples, scenery along the way, pastoral scenery, history and humanities vividly describe the travel life of classical literary and artistic youths;

I remember the first time I went to Turkey, it was because I finished reading Pamuk's "Museum of Innocence" and wanted to sleep on the cool mattresses in Istanbul described by him.

The farmers in the four fields are all working hard, the air is mixed with the fragrance of the soil, and it is a lively scene. The little shepherd boy rides horizontally on the back of the ox, playing the piccolo nonchalantly, with a look of enjoying himself, which adds to the idyllic and indifferent atmosphere. ——"The West Chamber"

When I was young, I didn't like studying very much. My biggest hobby was reading.

At that time, unlike now, there were many choices and channels for reading books. I just rented books to read in the bookstore next to the school. I read all kinds of books, from world classics to Japanese manga.

When there are new ones, I immediately take them home and read them, and I also watch them in class. Maybe because the grades are not bad, the teacher also turned a blind eye.

Outside, it is the bright and clear sky unique to Istanbul in spring. It was cool inside the houses and shops, and under the linden and chestnut trees, though the sweltering heat made the people sweating in the streets, not out of their winter habits. We felt a similar coolness from the mattress beneath us, on that mildly musty mattress, where we made love like happy children.

- "Museum of Innocence"

The more books I read, the more curious I am about the world. Every book contains a different life, strange people, from emperors and generals to the bottom of society.

They all live in different countries and different cities, which made me yearn for that country and city so much that when I grow up, when I go to many places, I will have a spontaneous emotion, as if you went to a very familiar person. The city of his friends, walk the road he walked, and think about his views on the world.

Q3: Will you read related books because of traveling to a certain place?

Yes, for sure.

Everyone has a different definition of travel, some people go to see the scenery, some people go to relax, I will also experience these, but if I can learn more about the people here on this basis How to think, the joys, sorrows and joys in their lives will make me cherish this trip even more.

When I travel to Japan, I will reread Dazai Osamu's "No Man in the World". The life in Japan described by him is extremely ordinary and cruel.

I forced the food into my mouth bit by bit, and kept thinking: "Why do people have three meals a day? Everyone eats with a serious face, and it seems to be a kind of ritual. The whole family, young and old, Three meals a day, gathered in a dark room within the specified time, sitting side by side in an orderly manner, no matter whether you have an appetite or not, you have to chew without saying a word, and bury your head down with your body bent, It's like praying to the gods who live in the house."

--"Human disqualification"

There are also books that I discovered the lack of local culture after I went to a certain place, and started to study after traveling, such as Arthur Helmand's "Scotland, the starting point of modern civilization". It wasn't until I went to Scotland for the second time and had a deeper understanding of the relationship between this place and modern civilization that I started to study this book.

Scotland is, after all, a maritime country. It sees an uncertain image of itself through the wobbling sponge. Because this is uncertain, its people try to build something certain, whether economic development, education, academia or civil society.

- "Scotland: The Beginning of Modern World Civilization"

Or during a trip, I suddenly became very interested in a certain culture, and started reading at that time. I remember that I went to Venice and was invited to visit the Peggy Guggenheim Museum. When I was surrounded by so many contemporary artworks and heard about the legend of Guggenheim, I bought her autobiographical novel "An Art of Art" Confessions of a Mystery", on the private observation deck of the museum, I gnawed on the book.

I remember that the happiest moment for me was sitting in Piazza San Marco and seeing Pollock's radiant works through the open windows of the museum,

——"Confessions of an Art Fan"

However, I seldom read guide books, unless this trip is for work, and if I want to take a camera with me, I have to plan the route and have to read the guide, but in fact I read very few, most of the places where I work are where I go passed.

But there is a kind of strategy book that I can read, which is the strategy of food and art. It will not give you the address or art check-in point of the planned restaurant, but tell you the story behind it.

For example, once I went to Europe, I took a small book, "European Cuisine Test" written by Cai Qianwen, which has interesting writing style and explores the sources of many delicacies in Europe with readers.

One hundred years later, we are fortunate to have much more delicacies on the plate than in the time of Dude. While tasting the delicacies of various countries, if we can think about the relevant evolution context contained in them, the satisfaction we feel will not be limited to the sense of taste.

——"European Cuisine Test"

In a sense, reading is more important than traveling.

When I travel, I feel, and when I read, I think.

Then when I write, I express my feelings and thoughts at the same time.

For me, it is not easy to do these three things well in my life.

Q4: Is reading a kind of entertainment? Are there other forms of entertainment that cannot be reflected in reading?

This depends on what book to read.

If you are reading a professional book, it must not be entertainment. Although in order to make more people return to the book, the content is not so boring with simple and simple methods, but the process of seeking knowledge must be difficult, and it is difficult to have too much entertainment.

If you are reading online novels, it is mainly for entertainment to pass the time, but I also found that some authors are looking for the truth of reality through online novels, such as traveling through novels, and viewing historical variables from a modern perspective. Just for fun.

Most of what I read is not in these two categories, but thinking-based and related to the soul

The trajectory of reading is from entertainment when I was a child to thinking when I grow up.

For example, when I was a child, my impression of Egypt mainly came from a manga "The Daughter of the Nile" by Chieko Hosokawa. When I was in college, I was attracted by Agatha Christie's "Tragedy on the Nile". When I grew up, the "Bible" became I created a more complete image of Egypt.

I know that people don't like to read books nowadays, and there are fewer books because there are more ways to entertain them.

When the 5G era arrives and the technology of VR and AI leaps forward, there may not be many people going out to travel. You can experience the world at home without leaving home. Why spend money and time on a real trip?

But for me, the current world is too fast, and all the information is fragmented and stuffed my eyes.

Maybe reading and traveling, this kind of life that requires me to concentrate on it and concentrate on facing it, can make me slow down and calm my mind.

Q5: What books are you reading recently?

From the beginning of the epidemic to the quarantine until now, I have read several different books at the same time.

I used to think that maybe when I am old and retired, I will do research, because the Schrödinger's cat locked in my body is an academic cat.

Unexpectedly, the epidemic gave me an early experience of retirement life. Daily life is very simple, get up in the morning to listen to the news, and exercise at the same time. After a short break after lunch, I have been reading in the study.

I will read several different books at the same time. The one on my desk is "A Brief History of Humanity" by Val Harari and the other is "The Three-Body Problem" by Liu Cixin. I have read these two books a long time ago. For the challenge of an era, pick it up and read it again, and the feeling and understanding are very different.

Possesses the power of a god, but is irresponsible, greedy, and doesn't even know what he wants. The world is dangerous, I'm afraid it's not the case.

——"A Brief History of Mankind"

With the current epidemic, there are many negative energies around us. Many people can't see the future and are not satisfied with their current life.

At the beginning of the quarantine, they can also check their mobile phones to pass the time.

I thought one or two months would be enough, but I didn't expect three or four months, or even longer. Short video jumps can no longer bring them joy. What was supposed to be just for fun, has now become the norm.

So fake news began to fly all over the sky. At the beginning, everyone felt like a treasure when they got it, but when there were more and more fake news, they turned into a negative attitude.

In fact, all our experiences can be found in books, and the correct news can also be found in books.

Marquez said in "One Hundred Years of Solitude": Everything is known.

It is just five light words, but it takes a lot of reading and thinking to get to the edge of the truth.

Q6: Tell us about the books you have written? Recommend a book worth reading at the moment.

The books I have written in recent years are mainly travel literature, and the three most representative ones are "One Day, I Met the World" and "Let's Go!" While youth and dreams are still there", "Enjoy Europe".

One day, I shared with readers my feelings about seeing the world for the first time. Let’s Go is to give readers the courage to travel alone. Joy Europe is advocating an attitude towards travel and life.

Sometimes, when one person leaves, another person's world will be lonely. But I don't know if my leaving will make your world lonely.

—— "One day, I met the world"

In addition to travel literature, I also write novels. The two most known to fans are "I Like You, Did You Know?" " and "Honey, you've been lonely, haven't you? ".

Before I was a traveler, I was an author. My youth and literature have always been disconnected, perhaps because many of the stories I wrote when I was a child were circulated by all classes, which brought me the pleasure of writing.

Some people actually believed the article written by hand.

So since I was a child, I have an inexplicable sense of awe towards literature. Maybe you just write it casually, but it affects other people's cognition.

So when I read my books, most of them are my real experience, coupled with the richness and thinking of literature.

While reading them, I hope you will be kind to that cat named Schrödinger (or Kamui?), who is waiting for you to save.

There is only one way to save it: to think, to use a scientific attitude, to find the truth of life.
