Day 10 Shangri-La to Mangkang County
I got up at 6:00 today and it was still dark. I went to the opposite side and had breakfast. I started the car and got ready to go. Today I am going back to Mangkang County from Shangri-La. It feels tiring to drive up the mountain road from Shangri-La to Mangkang County. Because the landslide on the National Highway was still not repaired and the road was still closed today when I came here, the bad road when I was still walking today felt like it was going to the sky, and I could only see the clouds but not the road.
It was still light when we arrived in Mangkang County, so we stayed back at the hotel we booked earlier and continued to wash the car with mountain spring water. Tomorrow, we will continue to take National Highway 318, and we will have an early rest at night.
Day 11 From Mangkang County to Basu County
Today, it is planned to travel 448 kilometers from Mangkang County to Ranwu Town, and it will take more than 10 hours. Before coming to Tibet, I heard that there are 7 checkpoints. The first checkpoint we encountered was on the side of the Jinsha River Bridge entering Tibet. The second one I encountered was the checkpoint from Mangkang to Shangri-La, from the Tibetan border to the Yunnan border, and I had to swipe my ID card to pass through. When entering Tibet to refuel the car, the driver must register with his driving license and issue a bill before he can refuel. Tibet uses 92 and 95 gasoline. The price of 92 here is 8.35 yuan a liter, and the highest price in Bomi is 9.45 yuan a liter, and the gas station is in a movable container.
Arrive at the Bangda checkpoint at 2:00 p.m., where you have to get off to get a motor vehicle speed limit inspection registration card, and there is a time limit for driving. The reason is that behind the Bangda Station is the famous 72 turns of the Nujiang River in Tibet, the most dangerous devil road on the Sichuan-Tibet Highway.
Just looking at this road is a bit exciting, spectacular, steep, exciting and magnificent. Because the road at the 72nd turn is steep and dangerous, there is no chance for you to stop and take pictures. From the viewing platform of Yela Mountain, you can see the magnificent 72 turns of the Nujiang River. After taking photos, start to go down the mountain and enter the entrance of the 72nd turn. You must be 120% energetic, and the speed of observation should not be too fast at any time. Every turning too fast is fatal. If you rush down the valley, you will lose everything.
Downhill has been hanging on the second gear, part of the road subsidence, the cement in the middle of some roads has been crushed, forming a big pit, we can only drive along the side of the road close to the guardrail. Those large trucks pulled the goods and drove forward with great effort, the engine was rumbling, and the brake pads were emitting white smoke.
After crossing the seventy-two turns, I couldn't go to Wuzhen today, so I rested at Basu.
