1. The best season
The best tourist season in the ancient city of Pingyao is from March to October. 3. Traffic information
Plane: There are airports in Taiyuan and Datong in the province, but there is no airport in Pingyao. You can go to Taiyuan or Datong, and transfer to Pingyao by train or car.
Train: There are two railway stations in Pingyao, namely Pingyao Railway Station and Pingyao Ancient City Station. Among them, Pingyao Railway Station is closer to the west gate of the ancient city and is a normal-speed train station. Pingyao Ancient City Station is a high-speed train station. Or take a taxi to reach the ancient city.
Car: The Pingyao bus station is diagonally opposite the north gate of the ancient city of Pingyao, and you can enter the ancient city on foot.

There are restaurants almost everywhere on the east, west, north, south and four main streets in the ancient city, most of which have Pingyao characteristics as their signatures. For the same dish, regional restaurants outside the city’s pedestrian blocks will be slightly cheaper, but the price difference is usually only three to five yuan.
In terms of cost-effectiveness, there is a restaurant with a good reputation. There are too many tourists eating at the North Restaurant, and they always need to wait for a table, so they expanded the store to South Street, and the service is also very good. Based on the local characteristics, the dishes are fried with vinegar brewed by their own vinegar workshop. The taste is very unique, which cannot be prepared by ordinary restaurants.
6. Shopping in Pingyao
The most famous specialty of Pingyao is naturally the so-called "Three Treasures of Xinyao" - beef, lacquerware, long yam, and some other items and food with local characteristics, such as Liuhetai pillow, Pingyao paper-cut, push light lacquerware, Pingyao rice wine, Caojiaxun elbow Wait, you might as well buy some to take home. The "Ming and Qing Street" in the ancient city, that is, on both sides of the South Street, has a variety of souvenir shops with unique architectural styles.
