It’s been a few days since I came back from Tibet, I’ve been immersed in the photos and can’t extricate myself haha

The specific guide photos are similar on the Internet, so I won’t write them. I will mainly share my experience and precautions with you.

(After mid-August, the rainy season has basically passed, and it rarely rains)

Sichuan in and out (accommodation): Jinan - Xi'an - Chengdu - Yajiang - Yading - Batang - Basu - Bomi - Nyingchi - Lang County - Shannan - Gyantse - (Yadong) - Shigatse - Tingri - Lhasa - Nagqu - Golmud - Xining - Xi'an - Jinan

Personnel: A Nissan SUV, five people in one car, and two old drivers

Cost: more than 30,000 in total, with an average of just over 6,000 per person. Self-driving travel is super cost-effective

Attractions (in reverse order):

1. Tickets for the Potala Palace can be purchased at the original price of 200 yuan on the official website. Tickets can be issued at 14:30 tomorrow afternoon seven days in advance. You can buy a 100 yuan discount ticket online. Tour guide group ticket Potala Palace still needs a tour guide. The Potala Palace can only enter with long trousers

2. The main shooting point of the Potala Palace is the viewing platform of Yaowang Mountain in the Potala Palace Square (free of charge) (the shooting location on the back of RMB 50). After visiting the Potala Palace, you can go along the road and there is a post office in heaven and earth nearby. Outgoing postcards

3. Jokhang Temple is very popular. I don’t know if it’s because of the morning. There are a lot of believers holding ghee and bowing in line. When I go in and visit, I feel that I’m disturbing them. I shake it and come out

4. Drepung Monastery is less than half an hour's drive from the city center. There are fewer tourists and it is relatively clean. You have to climb the mountain. The panoramic viewing platform is on the Sun Buddha Terrace. If you have time, you can go and see it

5. Norbulingka is more like a people’s park, you can go there if you have no time

6. Mount Everest is arranged to go in the morning when it is more sunny. You can arrange to live in a Tibetan tent in Rongbuk Monastery (80/bed is not a peak season and no reservation is required). We will go to Mount Everest almost completely covered by clouds in the afternoon. Tickets are 180 for a driver plus a private car toll of 400 Battery ticket 120 When we went, there was no restriction on entry or traffic jams. There is a mobile signal and a toilet at the base camp. There are actually more than 100 180-degree turns on Everest Road. It takes two hours to drive from the ticket purchase to the base camp. If you are not an old driver, don’t try it lightly. People who can report for a one-day tour in Lhasa or Shigatse feel that Mount Everest regrets not seeing it and regrets hearing that it is better to go to Jilonggou

7. Yadong is a beautiful town. It feels like a mountain in the south of the Yangtze River. Because of military management, the border ports are inaccessible. The China-India Border Trade Market opens at 3:00 pm. It is said that Yadong has a road directly leading to Tingri. The road condition is good. Interested to know more

8. Duoqingcuo is surrounded by snow-capped mountains, the scenery is good, but not as good as Pumoracuo

9. Pumoracuo is very beautiful, pure and quiet, rare and heaven-like. Note that the altitude is more than 5,000

10. The Yanghu ticket price is 60. The ticket office is on the highway. Non-tourist vehicles can pass without buying a ticket. I don’t know if they can pass without buying a ticket.

11. Canola Glacier ticket price 15 is also sold on the road. If you only pass without parking near the viewing platform, you don’t need to pay

12. We did not find the viewing platform of Dalagangbu Mountain. It seems that we need to get off the road and walk for a while

13. Nanyigou is a virgin forest, and the mountain is the disputed area between China and India. It takes an hour to go back and forth by battery car. Get off at the point and get on the car again. The road condition is very poor and the price/performance ratio is not high.

14. The Lulang Linhai Observation Deck and the Lulang Scenic Area are not the same place. We went to the Observation Deck. Tickets were 15 or 30. When we went, Namjagbarwa could not be seen in the clouds.

15. At Tongmai Natural Danger, there is a billboard erected on the river bank where you can take pictures of the Three Bridges

16. When encountering the Medog Highway, the cars leaving Medog will be allowed in the morning within a limited time limit, so it will take at least two days to enter and exit. After watching the Gawalong Glacier (24k), it is relatively good to give up entering the first half of the Medog-Medog Highway. After walking 52k, after passing the border inspection station, it becomes a mud road and some wading roads. Some vehicles that are not four-wheel drive will be stopped and unable to drive.

17. Bomi has snow-capped mountains, forests and lakes. It is very Swiss and I really want to live there

18. Tickets to Laigu Glacier are 30, horseback riding is about 120, and you can’t drive in. If you don’t know where to go on foot, you can go to the ice lake. Although the blue ice is not like winter, you can directly walk into the blue ice, but it is also very shocking

19. In the summer of Ranwu Lake, the lake water is muddy, neither blue nor reflected, so you can only take pictures of mountains. Along the road by Ranwu Lake, you will pass through the village and you will arrive at Laigu Glacier.

20. We arrived at the 72nd Turn of the Nujiang River at night, and we were a little scared... everyone, pay attention to arrange the time

21. Drukpa Long crosses the Jinsha River Bridge and enters the Tibetan border, but I didn’t see the sign of the Tibetan border...

22. Cuopugou is temporarily closed for rest

23. If Daocheng Yading takes long and short routes, it is best to arrange two days for hiking. You need to prepare trekking poles, glucose injections to replenish energy, oxygen bottles, and heart-saving pills

transportation:

1. The speed limit in Tibet is particularly severe. The speed limit in the interval is often 30. The speed limit we have experienced is mainly in the section of Milin-Shannan-Shigatse-Gyantse. There is no prompt for mobile phone navigation. You need to pay attention to the roadside signs (as shown in the picture) at any time. You need to take pictures and record the start time. Fortunately, the hotel owner reminded me otherwise outsiders would really not know

2. There is no toll on the expressways in Tibet. The general speed limit is 100

3. The road conditions in Tibet are very complicated. There are animals rushing onto the road, falling rocks may hit the roof of the car at any time, there are cyclists or hikers, and the subsidence of the roadbed supports the bottom. Some sections of the Sichuan-Tibet line are infested with large vehicles, and there may be cliffs next to them.

4. Be sure to pay attention to safety. Don’t drive too fast, don’t drive tired, and don’t get distracted. I saw various accidents along the way, and prayed for safety along the way.

High reverse:

1. It may be that I went to Qinghai last year. This time, the high anti-reflex disappeared quickly, and there was basically no reaction. The companions said that Rhodiola was effective.

2. To prevent high fever, drink plenty of warm water, keep warm, do not wash your hair, take a bath, and do not exercise vigorously. If high fever occurs, it is best to rest for half a day

3. If you have a headache, you can take painkillers. If you have insomnia, you can take a small amount of sleeping pills to ensure sleep

4. Elderly people have mild altitude sickness

Clothes:

In summer, you should wear short-sleeved jackets to down jackets. You should mainly wear long-sleeved trousers and thin jackets. It is best to wear clothes that are easy to put on and take off. The temperature changes a lot in a day. Sunglasses and hats are a must.

Food:

1. Most of them are searched on the platform without stepping on thunder

2. It’s basically Tibetan food, Sichuan food, Shaanxi food, and Muslim restaurants.

3. Pay attention to ask in advance the amount of food is generally too large

4. The auspicious holy snow in Lhasa is indeed delicious and unique

live:

1. The hotels on the ring road are basically mature, and they are all set by Ctrip. The standard room price range is 120-210. The facilities are in good condition, and basically have hair dryers. Many have elevators or the boss will help carry luggage upstairs.

2. Pay attention to the altitude of the accommodation when you just entered the plateau, try to keep it below 3,000 meters

3. Hotels basically have or can help rent oxygen

purchase:

1. There are fresh matsutakes for sale in summer, and you can express them back from 80 to more than 100. I don’t know the goods and dare not buy them.

2. There are Tibetans selling special commodities in scenic spots and observation decks. Most of them are normal transactions, and some are more clingy.

3. Yak beef jerky is said to be less than 200 yuan a catty and it is not pure. I bought Qisheng brand bags and it is really delicious.

4. Barkhor Street is very big. We went to the peripheral small commodity market where only locals go. The price is relatively low.

5. Some merchants charge random prices when they see that they are customers from other places. Be careful and ask more questions.

OK:

1. There are relatively few gas stations in Tibet, but they are evenly distributed along the line. It is recommended to fill up the gas stations as soon as you see them. PetroChina and Sinopec are relatively few. Most of them are local gas stations, and the price will be higher

2. Our car has been maintained three times, once for departure, once for Lhasa, and once for return

3. Flying from Lhasa to Chengdu is basically flying on the Sichuan-Tibet line, so you should choose a seat on the left side that is not blocked by the window. When there is no cloud, you can overlook the snow-capped mountains, rivers and Tianchi Lake.

I hope the above is helpful to everyone

Self-driving in Tibet really requires courage and psychological preparation. Something will happen. It is very important to understand the situation and deal with it in advance.

The people along the way, whether they are local residents or travelers, are very eager to help. If you have any questions, you must ask for help.
