On the 18th day of the self-driving tour in Qamdo, Tibet, we continued to travel in Dingqing County in Qamdo. Not many people may know about Dingqing, but when it comes to Dingqing’s Zizhu Temple, there are probably very few people who don’t know about it. Dingqing Qing is a transliteration of Tibetan, which means big platform. It is connected to Qinghai, west to Quqing and Suo County of Nagqu, south to Bianba and Luolong, and east to Leiwuqi. It can be said that it is Qamdo the west gate.

Before I came to Dingqing, my understanding of it was limited to Zizhu Temple. After arriving here, I realized that there are really many interesting places here. Although there are not many concept of scenic spots here, because even Zizhu Temple is open for free. Yes, the Butuo Sister Lake, which is as beautiful as a fairyland, also does not require tickets, and there were no other tourists at all when we went there.

We plan to stay in Dingqing for three days. Friends who know the local area have recommended many scenic spots to us, among which is the introduction of the Rongrong Glacier. He said that the Rongrong Glacier is adjacent to Bujia Snow Mountain, the highest mountain in eastern Tibet. The original ecological glacier with the highest drop in China, after hearing such an introduction, we naturally chose to go there without hesitation.

What I want to explain is that the Rongrong Glacier is not marked on the navigation map, so you can’t find it if you want to navigate directly. Friends who want to go must remember the route I introduced here. After we come out of Dingqing, we will first Go along National Highway 317 to Chidu Town (you can navigate Chidu Town first), and then continue along National Highway 317 for about 6-7 kilometers after arriving in Chidu Town. At the intersection of Luorongka Village, you will see a guidepost for the scenic spot. You will branch off to the right at the Rongrong Glacier.

Follow the road signs, turn to the 536 township road and go all the way. On the way, you will pass Ganyan Township, Gata Township and other townships, until you reach the end of the 536 township road. Fortunately, the road conditions are good. Under normal circumstances, it can be reached in more than 3 hours, so if you want to go, you need to arrange a day here, and you must control the return time.

Because the Rongrong Glacier is adjacent to the Bujia Snow Mountain at an altitude of 6328 meters, as the highest mountain in eastern Tibet, the natural conditions here are harsh, and it has the title of "one mountain sees four seasons, ten miles of different sky", so we still have to go there on the way. The sky was blue and white clouds all the way, but after arriving at the Rongrong Glacier, it was cloudy and snowflakes were flying.

According to related news reports, on January 12, 2016, the Chinese Geographical Landscape Discovery Scientific Expedition Team discovered five fully developed giant hanging glaciers in Bujia Snow Mountain. These five glaciers are the densest hanging glaciers in the world discovered so far. Hanging glaciers, as the name suggests, are hanging glaciers, and the most spectacular of these five glaciers is the Rongrong Glacier.

Why is it said that the Rongrong Glacier is the most spectacular? Because it has an astonishing height drop of 2,100 meters, pouring down from the top of Bujia Snow Mountain at 6,328 meters, forming a hanging glacier with a slope of about 70 degrees, which is currently the largest hanging glacier known in the world. No, the visibility is not high, and our drone was raised to the highest level, and we couldn't take a panoramic view of the Rongrong Glacier.

The last two pictures are the scenes I took when I raised the drone to an altitude of 500 meters. The top is still high. We walked on the edge of the frozen lake and tried the thickness of the ice on the lake. There are some footprints on it ( After freezing, there was another thin layer of falling snow below, so the footprints were faintly visible), so we decided to walk through the frozen lake and take a closer look at the glacier.

We are not professional explorers and did not bring snow chains, so we walked very slowly on the ice. It took more than an hour to reach the end of the lake, which is under the Rongrong Glacier. We have been in close contact for thousands of years. Unmelted glacier blue ice.

Facing the blue ice of the glacier, we took pictures inside for a long time, and tried to go deep into the glacier, but we were not prepared enough and did not dare to go too deep, so we only took some photos and videos outside, and there was no The man-machine came to take aerial photos with two batteries.

During this process, the weather inside the glacier became more and more severe. Strong winds began to blow, and the snow fell more and more heavily. The temperature dropped below minus ten degrees. We had to go out slowly. It was very dangerous in the process. Because there is no one around, although the lake is not big, it is really uncomfortable to walk in the wind and snow, and the feeling on the face is like a knife cut.

After more than an hour of slow walking, we finally crossed the entire frozen lake (about 2 kilometers away) and returned to the car. Our hands and feet felt frozen, so we immediately turned the car’s air conditioner to 30 degrees. It took more than ten minutes to feel warm. It was an unforgettable experience. I would also like to warn everyone that when going to these high-altitude snow-capped mountains and glaciers, you must pay attention to safety and do not leave the vehicle too far.

The Rongrong Glacier is different from the glaciers we usually see. Laigu Glacier and Midui Glacier are almost all formed by the freezing of lakes. They all extend outwards, but the Rongrong Glacier is different. It pours directly from the top of the mountain. down, forming giant hanging glaciers.

Although we plan to collect wind in Qamdo for a month, the itinerary is still a bit rushed, because there are several glaciers around the Rongrong Glacier. If you have enough time, you can play here slowly for two days. If the weather is fine, you will definitely be able to Take tons of great photos.

Overall, the Rongrong Glacier is a very good place worth visiting. From the time we arrived at the glacier until we left the glacier, we didn’t see other tourists. It is said that many locals in Qamdo don’t know it. The disadvantage is that it is relatively remote. It is also relatively far away, and it takes 7-8 hours to go back and forth. You can only visit this scenic spot in a day, and you must take safety measures, and you must go together. .
