D14 June 17 Linzhi - Basong Co (Gongbu Jiangda) (125 km)
From Nyingchi to Basong Co Scenic Area, you can take the Lalin Expressway for about 70 kilometers at the beginning, take the provincial road after getting off the expressway, and then turn to the road in the scenic spot. All other road conditions are good. We have to buy tickets to live in the scenic spot, but after registration, we can drive in the car directly, which not only saves 50 yuan per person for transportation in the area, but also makes it convenient to drive anywhere in such a large scenic spot.

Tibet - Gongbu Jiangda - Basongcuo
Basongcuo is a famous sacred lake of the Red Sect of Tibetan Buddhism and has a high religious status. The lake here is green and soft, surrounded by green mountains, and the scenery is very good. Although I have been here with a group tour before, it was in a hurry. This time I specially arranged to stay here for one night, so that I can have more time to walk around and better appreciate and feel the beautiful scenery here. The weather in the past few days has not been very good. Today when I visited Basongcuo, the sun was shining most of the time, the scenery was more beautiful, and the mood was even better!
Tibet - Gongbu Jiangda - Basongcuo
Not far from the gate of the scenic spot, there is a viewing platform. There are not many parking spaces here, and most tour groups will not come here. It is not very conspicuous, so be careful not to miss it. Although it is a bit tiring to climb more than 200 steps to the viewing platform, it is very worthwhile. The viewing platform has a slightly higher angle and a more prominent position, overlooking the lake and small islands. The scenery is very good. It is said that the most classic photos of Basongcuo are from here.
Tibet - Gongbu Jiangda - Basongcuo
There is also a viewing platform in Jieba Village, which is behind the sightseeing car parking lot. Here is mainly to watch the Tibetan villages and pastoral scenery, of course, you can also see the lake, the landscape is very distinctive and beautiful. Jieba Village is a quiet village on the north side of the lake. Because many tour groups visiting Basongcuo will not stay here, it makes the place quiet and leisurely. We stayed at the Cangyang B&B in the village at night, which is quite unique, but a bit more expensive. There are many homestays in Jieba Village, that is, farmhouses, and there are many places to eat. In addition, there is a relatively high-end hotel next to the island in the middle of the lake. It is about 20 kilometers from the gate of the scenic spot to Jieba Village, and the roads are pretty good. The altitude of this place is 3700 meters.

D15 June 18 Basong Co (Gongbu Jiangda) - Mainstay (Gongbu Jiangda) - Lhasa (110+260 total 370 kilometers)
Before leaving Basongcuo in the morning, I went to the viewing platform of Jieba Village and the island in the middle of the lake to have a look, and then went to Lhasa. After walking dozens of kilometers of scenic roads and provincial roads, and then walking on the Lalin Expressway for a while, and then turning to National Highway 318, you can reach the mainstay. If you take the high speed all the way, you will not be able to reach the mainstay.
Tibet - Gongbu Jiangda - Mainstay
Looking at the mainstay, I always feel that the landscape is very different from the one I saw when I first came here 12 years ago. The current landscape is much inferior. I don’t know why. If the itinerary is tight, there is no need to consider this attraction now. Go forward for a section of National Highway 318, and then take the Lalin Expressway to the vicinity of the Mila Pass at an altitude of 5013 meters. The Mira Mountain Tunnel is almost completed, and it won't be long before the Mira Mountain Pass will be "eliminated". After getting off the Mila Pass, go straight to Lhasa on the Lalin Expressway. The Lalin Expressway has just been opened, the road conditions are good, and there are few cars, but there are many curves, so please drive carefully, do not overspeed, safety is the most important thing.

This section of the road is easy to walk, and before 4 o'clock in the afternoon, we will enter the urban area of Lhasa after passing the Lhasa River. Check in the hotel and rest for a while, taking advantage of the sunny weather, hurry to the Potala Palace Yaowang Mountain Observation Deck to take pictures. The current Potala Palace Yaowang Mountain Observation Deck is quite different from the previous ones. Tickets are not charged, but there are dozens of times more tourists. This is a small place, but it is crowded with many people. There are also wedding photos taken here. If you want to take a classic photo with the Potala Palace, you have to wait in line.

Stay at the Vienna Hotel (Lhasa Potala Palace Park Branch) for 3 consecutive nights from tonight. It is next to the Forestry Department of Chengguan District and behind the Potala Palace. There is a free parking lot and you can walk to the Potala Palace Square for 15 minutes. Minutes or so, good location. The altitude of Lhasa is 3650 meters.
D16 June 19 Lhasa (30 km)
Today, the troops are divided into two groups: the first one has never been to Tibet, and I entrusted a travel agency to book tickets for visiting the Potala Palace today. This is a popular attraction that must be visited in Lhasa. Easy to get! Then go to visit Norbulingka. These 2 places and the Jokhang Temple are China's world cultural heritage. If you have time and opportunity, you must visit them; the other way has been to Tibet and visited these scenic spots before. In the morning, drive the car to the 4S shop to do it. Maintenance, and then visited Drepung Monastery and Sera Monastery. These two well-known large temples are located more than ten kilometers away from the city center. They are large in scale and easy to park. However, there are no discounts on tickets. If you are interested, it is a good choice to visit.

D17 June 20 Lhasa
Today we will continue our activities in downtown Lhasa. In the morning, I went to the bazaar to take a look around, purchase and prepare some food and other things for Tingri and Mount Everest Base Camp. In the afternoon, I went to the Jokhang Temple, Barkhor Street, Potala Palace Square and other scenic spots, and in the evening I went to the Potala Palace Square to watch the night view. Revisiting the old place makes people feel emotional. There are only so many tourists in June, and there will be more tourists in the peak tourist season in July and August. It can be seen how popular Tibet tourism is now. Now when entering the Potala Palace Square, Jokhang Temple, Barkhor Street and other places, identity verification and security checks are required.

These two days of excursions in Lhasa met with good weather, and every day is a sunny day. The temperature was also high, so I took off the winter clothes I had been wearing for more than ten days since I entered Kangding, and changed into short-sleeved clothes. The temperature difference is huge, and it is cool in the morning and evening, so you have to wear a thin coat. At noon, the temperature actually rises to the early 30s, and it is worthy of the title of "Sunshine City", the sun is particularly vicious.
I found a hot pot restaurant on the 2nd floor of Gongdelin Tianjie Shopping Plaza, which is quite suitable for my taste. Dinner was settled here two nights in a row last night and tonight.
D18 June 21 Lhasa - Yamdrok (Langkazi) - Gyantse - Shigatse (80+200+90 total 370 kilometers)
Zongjiao Lukang Park (also known as Longwangtan Park) is diagonally opposite to the hotel where we are staying. I still have some time in the morning, so I went to the park to take a walk. There is no ticket to enter the park, but you have to check your ID card. There are quite a lot of people, mainly locals who come here to turn around. The reflection on the back of the Potala Palace can be photographed by the pond, which is very beautiful.

Today we will leave Lhasa for Shigatse. Along the way, we will pass the Yarlung Zangbo River, Gangbala Pass (5030 meters above sea level), Yamdrok Yumco, Karola Glacier and Manla Reservoir Observation Deck, etc. The focus is to visit Yamdrok Yamdrok (local People often simply call it "Yanghu Lake").
The road to "Yanghu Lake" is in good condition. Out of the urban area, take the airport expressway for dozens of kilometers, and then walk dozens of kilometers of mountain roads. But these tens of kilometers of mountain roads have been subjected to interval speed measurement, with a speed limit of 40 kilometers, which makes you sleepy. Seeing that many vehicles, including buses and cars, are seriously speeding, and then stop after walking for a while to look at the scenery, take pictures or go to the bathroom to kill time. Is there a question of whether the regulations are reasonable and whether the system is realistic? Why does everyone do this?
Tibet - Langkazi - Panshan Highway to Yamdrok Yumco
Yamdrok is one of the three holy lakes in Tibet. Depending on the weather and the sunlight at different times, the lake water will show different colors, sometimes it is azure blue, and sometimes it is azure blue. Standing on the viewing platform on the mountain overlooking the lake, it is pleasing to the eye. Now there are large-scale tourist facilities such as parking lots and toilets, and there are so many people who come here to visit, that tourists who take pictures of the iconic stele have to wait in long lines. One hour is enough to enjoy the scenery, play and take pictures here.

After inquiring, there are two ways to go to Shigatse from here. First, return to the vicinity of Gongga Airport, and then turn from Qushui County to National Highway 318, which is tens of kilometers closer than taking Provincial Highway 307 in the direction of Gyantse, but there are basically no scenic spots along the way; second, go down along the highway To the bank of Yanghu Lake, walk 20 to 30 kilometers from the lakeside road, then turn to Provincial Highway 307 in the direction of Langkazi and Gyangze, and then go to Shigatse via Bailang. , Karola Glacier and Manla Reservoir Observation Deck and many other scenic spots can be visited, and will also pass through Gyantse, a famous historical and cultural city in China. In addition, walking along the shore of Yanghu Lake, there will be multiple viewing platforms, which is also an excellent place to appreciate Yanghu Lake, and the roads are easy to walk.
Of course we chose the latter and traveled all the way to Shigatse. Due to waiting in Lhasa in the morning to get the border defense permit to the Everest Base Camp entrusted by the travel agency, the departure was delayed and some time was delayed. In addition, the speed limit on the road was serious. But it was almost dark at 9:00 pm before arriving at the hotel in Shigatse.
I stayed at Vienna International Hotel (Jilin South Road, Zabulunbu Temple, Shigatse), a new hotel that is undergoing trial operation, and I am very satisfied in all aspects. The altitude here is 3860 meters.
D19 June 22 Shigatse - Tingri (240 km)
In the morning, visit Shigatse's most famous Zabulunpo Monastery (there is a parking lot, and there is no discount for tickets), and at the same time, take a tour of the city of Shigatse. Although the city is the second largest city in Tibet, the appearance of the city is only so-so. Fortunately, there are beautiful natural scenery and unique post-Tibet life here, making Shigatse known as "the most pleasant and beautiful manor".

In the afternoon, we hurried to Tingri. The distance was only 240 kilometers and the road conditions were good, but we walked for nearly 5 hours before arriving at the destination hotel. Because it is said that the speed limit and penalties here in Shigatse are notorious, and this is what the drivers who often go in and out of this area complain about. In addition, there are a lot of vehicles coming and going along the way, so we have to drive with extra care. It passes through the Gyatsola Pass at an altitude of 5220 meters, also known as Dingrijie, which is the pass of the Mount Everest National Nature Reserve. When I stood on the mountain pass and looked at Mount Everest, my heart was refreshed. The top of the world, the third goddess - Mount Everest, here I come! ! !
The Tingri Sovereign Hotel where I will stay for two nights today and tomorrow is located in Baiba, Tingri County, which is convenient to go to the base camp of Mount Everest. The altitude here has reached 4,400 meters, which is the highest place for accommodation since this journey. Tomorrow, we will challenge the Everest Base Camp at an altitude of 5,200 meters.
D20 June 23 Tingri - Everest Base Camp (Tingri) - Tingri (110+110 total 220 kilometers)
Today is a great challenge and severe test for life, and at the same time, a great dream of life has been realized. Starting from his hometown, after a long journey of more than 5,000 kilometers, he finally drove the car to the foot of Mount Everest, the third pole of the earth and the highest peak in the world, and arrived at the base camp of Mount Everest. This is the best place to see the top of the world at close range, and it is also the starting point for many climbers to conquer Mount Everest from the northern line. Although the weather is so-so, everything here is still very shocking. The excitement is beyond words.

Go to the base camp of Mount Everest and drive a car on the mountain road at an altitude of more than 4,000 meters. Along the way, you have to climb countless steep slopes and go through countless sharp turns. Fortunately, the 110-kilometer distance from Tingri Baiba to Mount Everest Base Camp has all been repaired in the previous stage, and some of them have just been repaired recently. Although the road is not wide, it is smooth, and the sight line is generally good at sharp turns. There were not many vehicles on that day, and it feels good to drive a car. In the past, it was full of bumpy dirt roads and washboard roads, which were extremely bumpy. "My eyes are in heaven, but my body is in hell."

In the morning, we set off from Baiba, Tingri County, and arrived at the checkpoint within a short distance. We had to get off the car and check the ID card and border defense certificate and other documents. Go on and you will come to Mount Everest National Park, where you can buy tickets to enter the park. A car costs 400 yuan (including a driver), and 90 yuan per person for others. You must also keep a copy of the driver's ID card, driver's license, and car driving license. There are obvious signs at the gate of the park, and you can take pictures as a souvenir.

After entering Mount Everest National Park, you will pass through the Uzila Pass Observation Deck at an altitude of 5,210 meters. Standing on the observation deck, you can not only overlook Mount Everest, but also three other peaks, Cho Oyu, Lhotse and Makalu, which are above 8,000 meters above sea level. At the same pass, you can see four extremely high peaks above 8,000 meters, which is unique among the passes crossed by the 318 National Highway Sichuan-Tibet Line and even all the roads in the world. In the morning, the weather is good, and you can clearly see Mount Everest and the other three extreme peaks here.

We are approaching the Everest base camp. At the border police checkpoint at the foot of Rongbuk Monastery, the highest monastery in the world, we checked our ID cards and border defense certificates again. After that, we finally drove into the Everest base camp at an altitude of 5,200 meters. How exciting it is! Joy, excitement, and pride hung on everyone's faces. After a short rest, we came to the viewing platform of Mount Everest, where there is a stone tablet engraved with "Mount Everest Base Camp, 5,200 meters above sea level", where everyone is watching Mount Everest while taking pictures to commemorate their lives the highest altitude. Originally, the weather in the morning was not bad, but when we arrived at the Everest base camp at noon, the weather had gradually turned bad. When we arrived at the monument in the base camp, the clouds covered the upper part of Mount Everest. When you can watch Mount Everest at close range, you can't see the entire face of Mount Everest clearly, what a pity!

Go further from the 5,200-meter-high monument of Mount Everest Base Camp to reach the Mount Everest Elevation Measurement Monument. This is the closest place for ordinary tourists to Mount Everest. allow. It is said that there used to be paid sightseeing cars to take tourists there, but for some reason it is gone now. Although the distance is not too far, it is still a bit tiring to walk at such a high altitude. We walked over slowly, but fortunately, the wind was not too strong (it is often windy here), and the temperature was not very low (about 5 or 6 degrees), so we didn't feel very cold. At the Mount Everest Elevation Measurement Monument, I rested for a while and looked at the Rongbuk Glacier. Then I walked back slowly and went to the base camp to take a look at the Mount Everest post office, which is the highest in the world. It is in such an almost primitive place that one can feel the greatness of nature and the insignificance of human beings the most. We stayed at Everest Base Camp for more than two hours.

So far, the most special, meaningful and memorable one-day tour to Mount Everest Base Camp in this trip is over. Fortunately, the four of us are full of energy and in good condition; unfortunately, the weather is so-so and affects our perception. It is really rare to stay at such a high altitude for such a long time without any discomfort, and to witness the unpredictable climate in the Everest area. Although it is hard work, it is very worthwhile. I am very contented and grateful to have such a rare experience and experience in my life!
D21 Dingri on June 24 - Dangxiong (580 kilometers)
Today's main task is to hurry. We set off at 7:30 in the morning and arrived at the hotel in Dangxiong at 8:30 in the evening. We walked for 13 hours. Because I am going to Namtso, I have lived in Lhasa for a few days, and it will be more troublesome to enter and leave the big city, so I crossed Lhasa from the side and decided to stay in Damxung for tonight. From the map, there are two roads to go, one is to go back to Lhasa along the Sichuan-Tibet line of the 318 National Road, and then turn to the Qinghai-Tibet line of the 109 National Road to Dangxiong. After all, they are all national roads, and the road conditions are good, but there are too many cars on the road, and there are dozens of kilometers to go; one is to go along National Highway 318 after passing Shigatse, turn to Provincial Highway 304, and then take National Highway 109 to get there. Later, after asking many people and drivers, they all said that Provincial Highway 304 was undergoing major repairs, and the road was very difficult to walk, and the detour to Lhasa was much longer. You can take 318-Nimu-Yangbajing-109-Dangxiong, and the road is very close. easy to go.
It is just after listening to these words and taking this road that we have taken a lot of bad roads and suffered a lot today. It turns out that there is also a section of Provincial Highway 304 after Nimu-Yangbajing. Isn't that under overhaul! The road is terribly dilapidated, and what is even more exasperating is that the road is blocked when walking, there is no sidewalk, and there are no signs telling you where to go. At this time, we couldn't explain clearly when asking for directions, and the navigation didn't listen to us, which caused us to spend a lot of time and take a lot of wrong roads. The car turned around and even drove to barren mountains and wild ridges or even dead-end places. Fortunately, the SUV has a high chassis and good off-road capabilities, otherwise it would be really troublesome. Later, after going around and around, I finally reached the main road. Later, when I was in a hurry, I was not in the mood to take a good look even after passing through the Yangbajing geothermal area.

D22 June 25 Damxung - Namtso (Dangxiong) - Nagqu - Amdo (65+170+145 total 380 kilometers)
More than half of the 65-kilometer journey from Dangxiong to Namtso is undergoing major repairs. The road surface is in dilapidated condition, and it takes about two hours to reach the scenic spot on the sidewalk with abnormal bumps. When passing through the Nagenla Mountain Pass at an altitude of 5,190 meters, the wind was strong and there were a few light rains. It was very cold. I stopped to take a photo and left. Fortunately, when we entered the Namtso-Nyainqentanglha Mountain Scenic Area, the weather was fine and the wind was sunny; here, the majestic snow-capped mountains, the blue lake, and the colorful prayer flags dancing in the wind by the lake, all of which constitute A colorful picture.

Namtso is one of the three holy lakes in Tibet (the other two are Yamdrok Yumco, which I just visited a few days ago, and the other is Mapang Yumco in the Ngari area, where the altitude is high and the environment is relatively harsh. Go less), the lake is vast, and it is the second largest saltwater lake in my country. On the other side of the lake is the Nyainqentanglha Mountain, which is a continuous snow-capped mountain. The towering snow-capped mountains are reflected in the lake, which looks peaceful and peaceful. Today’s visit to Namtso has good weather. Although it is also a revisit of the old place, I still feel that the scenery is still so fascinating and makes people linger. Everyone enjoyed taking pictures of the scenery and never tired of it. They had a great time and didn't leave until after eating a bowl of noodles for lunch in the afternoon.
Today's destination is Amdo, and we need to return to Damxiong from Namtso, and then take the 109 National Highway Qinghai-Tibet Line to Amdo via Nagqu. On the way, we will pass through the Nagqu Alpine Grassland (Qiangtang Grassland), which has an average altitude of over 4,500 meters and is a representative of the Alpine Meadow Grassland in my country. The road conditions on most sections of this road are not bad, but there are too many large trucks, and the speed limit is also severe, I can't go fast, and I didn't arrive at the hotel where I was staying in Anduo until after 8:00 pm.
Tibet-Naqu-Naqu Alpine Grassland (Qiangtang Grassland)

Anduo is the last county in Tibet on the Qinghai-Tibet line. Basically, they are passers-by on the Qinghai-Tibet line. The prices are relatively high. The Anduo Naqu Tianci Business Hotel where you stay at night is average in all aspects, but the price is still relatively expensive. The altitude here is as high as 4,800 meters, which is the highest altitude place for our self-driving tour on the Qinghai-Tibet Plateau. Many people dare not stay here because the altitude is too high. Fortunately, we are in good physical and mental condition, and we were able to fall asleep at night and keep our spirits up. We will have to trek 690 kilometers tomorrow.
D23 Amdo-Golmud on June 26 (690 kilometers)
Today should be the most tiring, hardest and most difficult day of this trip. Departing from Anduo County, passing the 109 National Highway Qinghai-Tibet Line across the Tanggula Pass, Fenghuo Crater and Kunlun Pass at an altitude of more than 4,000 meters, and passing through the Hoh Xil National Nature Reserve with an average altitude of more than 4,600 meters, the journey is 690 kilometers. Golmud City in Qinghai Province. Among them, most of the journey is on the plateau above 4000 meters above sea level.
In order to hurry, I got up at 5 o'clock in the morning, only ate a little snack, and set off before dawn at 6 o'clock. During the period, due to bad roads, speed limits, road repairs, and traffic jams, especially the large trucks, which were unimaginable, meeting and overtaking became the norm, which seriously affected the driving speed. It was not until almost 11 o'clock in the evening that we arrived at the hotel in Golmud safely.

This day is a good test of willpower and physical strength, but being tired and happy is still the main line. Along the way, we visited Tanggula Pass (5,231 meters above sea level), Huofeng Pass (5,010 meters above sea level), Hoh Xil National Nature Reserve (Kehexil Antelope Observation Deck, Hoh Xil Snow Mountain Observation Deck), Tuotuo River, and Kunlun Pass (4,780 meters above sea level). , Jade Everest and other scenic spots. These majestic and rich and diverse landscapes that are rarely seen by ordinary people are still refreshing for everyone. It's just that time is tight, and most of the scenic spots can only be rushed to take a look, take a photo and leave in order to hurry.

At least half of this road is in bad condition, some roads are seriously damaged, and some road sections are wavy. It is said that the road is repaired every year and it breaks down every year. The main reason is that this road runs on the Qinghai-Tibet Plateau. The weather conditions and geological conditions along the route are bad, especially the permafrost on the plateau, which is a worldwide problem. Of course, there are also factors such as low design standards and poor construction quality. Fortunately, after passing the Kunlun Mountain Pass for more than 200 kilometers, the road conditions are good and there is no speed limit. Otherwise, it may take midnight to reach Golmud.

D24 June 27 Golmud
Yesterday's journey was really exhausting. Today I had a good rest in Golmud, a city with a good environment and a low altitude (only over 2,700 meters). Washed the car, went shopping, and took a nap. In the evening, I found a good restaurant, ordered a few dishes, drank some beer, brewed a pot of tea from my hometown, and enjoyed the leisurely slow life and good times. It feels so good!
