Fifth day itinerary planning ~ September 14 (final return)

The fifth day of the 2020 Huadong Tour (Qixingtan + Siba Heights + Etude Bookstore + Xincheng Catholic Church + Jiaxing Ice Fruit Room + Dongao Fenniao Forest Secret Realm) back to Taipei

Early risers watching the sunrise unexpectedly dropped their mobile phones under the breakwater

Get up at five o'clock in the morning, ready to go to the breakwater trail opposite the hotel to watch the sunrise.

There are already some people running in the morning on the trail so early, and some people are setting up their cameras and preparing to shoot the sunrise.

As usual, I am also waiting for the sunrise. The clouds in the sky are a bit low and thick today. I still think that I may not be able to take pictures of the sun rising. But today there was a small episode that was not in the plot. I accidentally pushed my mobile phone tripod into the pile of big rocks under the breakwater. Then the gentleman next to me pointed to the road ahead and told me that I could go down from there, and then I ran desperately. In fact, I was not worried about whether the mobile phone was broken, because there was insurance to compensate for the broken mobile phone, I was just worried that I would Can't get a picture of the sunrise.

While I was running, I looked back at the sun hiding in the clouds, thinking, please, please don’t come out now, wait for me for a while! However, when I was halfway running, the sun suddenly appeared from the clouds. It was round and not dazzling. I slowed down and stared blankly, but it was covered by the clouds after a while. . Seeing that the sky was pitch black again, I thought it would rain today, but the weather in Hualien was very strange. I didn't expect that it would be sunny again an hour later.

I didn’t get a picture of the sunrise, so I picked up my phone and sat on the rocks, looking at the sun and the light of dawn coming through the clouds. The sky with the sea and the lighthouse is also very beautiful. Apple's mobile phone is really drop-resistant. The mobile phone fell into a pile of rocks and was hit hard. It was separated from the selfie stick and the mobile phone case, but the mobile phone was not broken, only the protective sticker was cracked 2-3 times.

This is the pedestrian walkway next to the breakwater on Beibin Street, Hualien

We decided to drive to Qixingtan for a walk before breakfast.

Chihsingtan ~ the most beautiful rocky beach in Hualien, listening to the waves and stepping on stones

Qixingtan, also known as Crescent Bay, is a must-see secret place in Hualien tourism. It is located in Beipu Village, Xincheng Township, Hualien County. On the east side of Hualien Airport, Qixingtan is a bay protruding from the side of Meilunbi.

Why is it called Qixingtan? Obviously it looks like the sea! But in fact there really is Qixingtan. The history of Chihsingtan can be traced back to the Qing Dynasty. In the "Map of Taiwan and the General Map of Taiwan's Back Mountains" in the Qing Dynasty, there are several low-lying wetlands in Hualien marked. These wetland lakes of various sizes are Chihsingtan. When the airport was built during the Japanese occupation in 1936, the Japanese filled Chihsingtan and moved the residents in the Chihsingtan area to the bay on the Meilunbi side. However, the relocated residents still used to say that they lived in Chihsingtan. Over time, the name Qixingtan has continued to be used.

Qixingtan has been built by Hualien County Government in stages and has become the representative of the best scenic spots in Hualien County. It is a good place to watch the sunrise, night view and stars. In Qixingtan, the same place, different moments, give you the top visual feast.

Qixingtan Beach is a beautiful arc-shaped bay, the sea water is clean and blue, and the black stones are crystal clear. The sky and sea color of Qixingtan are the most beautiful and dreamy. Looking at the sea and listening to the sound of the waves here is indeed very healing and soothing, and it is also a good place for emptying your head.

It should be noted that although Qixingtan is beautiful, Qixingtan Beach is a fault beach, and the water depth is very deep within a few steps from the shore, so it is not suitable for swimming. And the stones here cannot be taken away, and you will be fined.

Hualien Chihsingtan's most beautiful photo spot "Siba Heights": enjoy the beauty of Chihsingtan

To overlook the dreamy 180-degree Qixingtan and the beautiful Crescent Bay, the 48 highlands are definitely the highest point.

Siba Highland is also known as Qilaibi or Meilunbi. The reason why it is named Siba Highland is because the altitude is exactly 48 meters. However, this unique terrain is formed because of the Philippine plate and the Eurasian plate. Landforms formed by pushing.

Siba Heights used to be a place where the national army practiced, but now it is planned as a bicycle path and an environmental protection park.

Siba Highland is located behind Qixingtan. Standing on Siba Highland, it is condescending. It has a very good view, with a 180-degree unobstructed wide field of vision, and a panoramic view of Qixingtan's beautiful coastline such as Crescent Bay and the vast Pacific Ocean. .

The boundless blue sea, and the layers of green hills and green hills, the picturesque beauty is reflected in front of your eyes, which is really indescribable beauty.

The entrance to Siba Heights is right next to the "Basic Shooting Range for Light Weapons", so it's really easy to miss it if you don't look carefully. Walk along the path, about 200 meters.

The breakfast at Weilan Coast Seaview B&B is full of pink girls' hearts

The breakfast at Blue Coast Seaview B&B is included in the room rate. It is served in a self-service way. It is a combination of Chinese and Western styles. There are bread and porridge, salad and side dishes, as well as soy milk and popcorn. I think it is very rich.

Enjoying breakfast in such an environment where the hearts of pink girls burst out, I feel very happy.

The small and warm lobby of Weilan Coast Seaview B&B is so easy to photograph, and it is still irresistible to its charm when it is time to look at it.

The Light of Taiwan ~ Hualien Huilan Potato Road, Wendan Revival, Pineapple Bay, the best souvenir in Hualien

For the best souvenirs in Hualien, I recommend Hualien’s local brands ~ Hualien Potatoes and Hualien Mochi from Huilan Potato Road, Wendan Cake and Green Pomelo Cake from Wendan Fuxing, and Pineapple Cake from Pineapple Bay.

On the return trip, we went to "Wendan Fuxing" to buy some souvenirs related to Wendan pomelo. In addition to Wendan crisps, green pomelo balls, which are mini mochi, are also my favorite. Yuzu soy sauce is also a good choice for friends who like a lighter taste. It is also very suitable for dipping dumplings and boiled vegetables.

It just so happens that there are some props for punching cards in the store, which makes me very happy to play!

Traveling to Xincheng and Rural Hualien is no longer just Chihsingtan, but there are also etude bookstores, Xincheng Catholic Church, and Jiaxing Ice Fruit Room.

Etude Bookstore | A bookstore cafe that does not sell books in Hualien New Town, practicing the big and small things in your life

Etude Bookstore is a bookstore with a strong Chinese culture in Hualien scenic spots. It is a bookstore opened by Hu Wenwei, the coach of Xincheng Elementary School Baseball Team. It is a revitalized building of an old house. His original idea was to give the kids on the baseball team a place to read. He is different from ordinary bookstores. The books in the etude store are not for sale. The books in the store are only available for on-site reading and rental, not for sale.

The etude bookstore is located diagonally opposite the Xincheng Catholic Church. It is a two-story building with gray walls, wooden windows that open outwards, and a row of wooden chairs displayed against the wall under the outer windows. There is no signboard outside the store, only the wall There are a few large characters on it: "Etudes│Etude book store│Reading│Diet│Lectures", and there is a sign "Be a literary youth and read this book!" It makes people stop, take photos, and walk in Check out the bookstore. Suddenly felt that I had become a literary and artistic girl.

The bookstore is clean and bright. The space on the first floor is neatly stacked with books, picture books and photos, as well as some cultural and creative handicrafts. The books in the bookstore are borrowed from donations, but they are sorted and displayed in a slightly different way. If you want to sit down and have a drink, you can also choose from coffee, chrysanthemum tea and roselle tea. People who want to borrow books can register in the book and send them back. Sit at the bar seat by the window, pick up your favorite book to read, and occasionally look up at the torii of the Catholic Church across the street and the quiet streets of the new city, and calm down to enjoy the relaxation and beauty that this town brings to you.

The owner of the etude bookstore: coach Hu Wenwei, came to Hualien from other counties and cities for work many years ago, fell in love with Hualien, and then settled in Hualien. It is also because of his love for baseball that he turned his love for baseball into action. He has led many baseball teams and is known as a passionate coach. Finally, he came to Xincheng and fell in love with this simple and beautiful town surrounded by mountains and sea. Lead the Xincheng Elementary School Baseball Team. Because he believes that children should not only play baseball, but also develop a good habit of reading, so in order to give children a place to read, he built an ideal bookstore in his mind, and then the etude bookstore was born in this small new city. In the corner, this should also be the first local Wenqing Bookstore. The etude bookstore also began to flip the new city and become the focus of everyone's attention.

A very special thing is in the etude bookstore. In addition to borrowing books and donating books, there are also part-time jobs as store managers. The shortest period is five days and one stage. I heard that there are quite a few people who come to register.

Xincheng Catholic Church - a characteristic building where Japanese torii gates and Catholic ship-shaped churches coexist

Opposite the etude bookstore, you can see a very special view. It is clearly a Japanese torii, but the words "Catholic Church" are written on it. Going further, you will see Noah's Ark "Xincheng Catholic Church" on the land.

Why is there an old site of a Japanese shrine here in the new city? Later it became a ship-shaped Catholic church? This source can be traced back to the Xincheng incident during the Japanese occupation era.

In 1895, after the defeat of the Qing Dynasty, the Treaty of Shimonoseki was signed and Taiwan and Penghu were ceded to Japan. In December 1896, soldiers of the Hualien Port Garrison offended a Taroko girl. All officers and soldiers were killed, this is the "Xincheng Incident"

The Xincheng incident became the trigger for the Japanese crusade against the Taroko people, and the plan to manage the Tibetans began (the Japanese called the aborigines "Fan" during the Japanese occupation period). Finally the Taroko warriors were forced to surrender in 1914. After the victory, the Japanese built a simple shrine near the camp to commemorate the martyrs in the same year, with wooden structures, torii gates, monuments, and worship paths. In 1937, the Japanese shrine was rebuilt on the original site with cement materials to commemorate the 13 Japanese officers and soldiers who were killed. , which is now Xincheng Catholic Church.

After Japan was defeated and separated from Taiwan in 1945, the shrine was destroyed and demolished. Later, in 1956, the Xincheng Catholic Church bought the shrine and built a cathedral. With the idea of "Peter's Ship", it became a boat-shaped church, now also known as For Noah's Ark. And keep its undamaged antiquities, so today's Xincheng Catholic Church is a merger of east and west, and Japanese shrines and Catholic churches coexist.

Hualien Xincheng Jiaxing Ice Fruit Room Not only is the lemon juice delicious, the popular assorted fried noodles are also delicious

[Jiaxing Ice Fruit Room], which is located in Xincheng and Rural Areas, is very popular. According to the meaning of the name, I really thought it was just a small shop selling cold drinks, but it is not the same thing at all. Everyone here does not eat ice but Stir fry and drink lemon juice, quite special!

The wooden building on the outside is very retro, and the benches have the smell of a station. I heard that the business is really good. The day we returned was Monday, which was not a holiday. In the end, we had to wait for the number plate, which took about 20 minutes , There are so many people that it is a bit exaggerated!

Why is the lemon juice in Jiaxing Ice Fruit Room unique in flavor? The whole lemon is peeled and juiced, and then condensed milk is added for seasoning. But I heard that it is a beautiful mistake to extract the juice with the skin, and condensed milk will be added. It is purely because the owner thinks that adding some condensed milk will not hurt the stomach! It's interesting.

Jiaxing Ice Fruit Room is a 60-year-old brand, and the store has been renovated, so it doesn't look like an old store at all.

There are two flavors of lemon juice, signature lemon juice and golden lemon juice. The signature lemon juice has condensed milk added, and the golden lemon juice has kumquats added but no condensed milk, and the taste is more sour.

As for the frozen fruit parlors, there are hot fried ones. It seems that the iced fruit parlors in Hong Kong and Macau are also like this, so it is not surprising. Many tourists order assorted fried noodles, so we also ordered one, as well as stir-fried vegetables and raw fried squid, all of which tasted good.

Originally, the return trip was directly from Hualien to Yilan and back to Taipei, but on the way, my husband mentioned the secret place of the Pink Bird Forest in Dongao. I was very interested in mentioning the secret place, and then I saw the sign of the Pink Bird Forest on the way. I decided to go to Pink Bird Forest for a walk. But because I missed the entrance, I went around and entered from the other end of the pink bird forest, not from the fishing port of the pink bird forest. But entering from this end, I saw many canoes of different colors.

Fenniaolin Fishing Port, no longer a secret place, is still very beautiful

[Fenniaolin Fishing Port], which used to be known as the secret place of Fenniaolin, is also known as "Love Lock Beach". However, with the power of the Internet, waves of tourists poured in, and now it is no longer a secret place, but the beautiful scenery remains the same, and it is still very beautiful. The bay here is very windy and turbulent, so it is not suitable for swimming in the sea, but it is very beautiful to sit on the shore and watch the sea ride the waves and take beautiful photos.

The name Fenniaolin sounds quite poetic. I thought of the feeling of pink, pink and blue, but the real origin is because there were many wild pigeons inhabiting the port in the early days. Pigeons are "pink birds" in Taiwanese, hence the name. . Instantly broke my beautiful fantasy. But when I saw the colorful canoes on the beach, I thought the term pink bird forest was so dreamy!

This five-day and four-night trip to Hualien and Taitung has come to a successful conclusion. I did not expect that I would travel to Taiwan for five days and four nights, and I only went to Hualien and Taitung, and I only went to the part of Taitung. Taitung City. And there are still some attractions that I haven't played yet. However, I had a lot of fun on the whole journey and took a lot of photos. I used to think that it was not easy to go to Hualien, but after the change from Suhua to traffic, traveling to Hualien and Taitung is no longer a tiring driving. It's over, and I look forward to another trip to Huadong next time.

Accommodation fee: (both include breakfast)

Fuli low-key homestay (precipitated two single-person suites): NT$2,400 (RMB 560)

Taitung Midou Culture Hotel (two-person room): Taitung 2,400 yuan (RMB 560)

Fengbin Cliff B&B (Mykonos Sea View Room): NT$4,200 (RMB 980)

Hualien Weilan Coast Seaview Homestay (Triple Room with Seaview): NT$3,600 (RMB 840)

If you want to charter a car (taxi), a taxi costs about NT$3,000 for 8 hours a day.

As for the food, the local snacks are very cheap. If you use lunch + dinner, about NT$500 per person per day is enough.

Therefore, according to my itinerary (calculated by sharing between two people, if there are four people, the chartered part is more cost-effective), if it is not a self-driving car but a chartered car for five days, the five-day fee (excluding gifts and Miscellaneous sticks) about 3800 RMB per person.
