At noon on October 5, 2016, with reverence, we came from Nanning, Guangxi to the Malipo Martyrs Cemetery in Yunnan. We were shocked to see these 21 rows of martyrs' tombs.
Climbing up the stone steps, you will arrive at the center of the cemetery, and you will see a 15.32-meter-high revolutionary martyr memorial tower erected with marble. On the front of the tower are Mao Zedong's inscription "The People's Heroes Are Immortal" in 8 golden characters, and on the back is Zhu De's inscription "You live in our hearts, we live in your career" 20 big golden characters.
In the Sino-Vietnamese border war, most of the thousands of martyrs sacrificed by our army were buried in the border areas of Yunnan and Guangxi. After the war, the state and local governments built martyrs cemeteries for people to look up and pay homage to. Among the martyrs' cemeteries in Yunnan, Malipo Martyrs' Cemetery is one of them. From the foot of the mountain to the top of the cemetery, there are 21 rows of 937 remains of martyrs, among which 15 heroes who were awarded the title of "battle heroes" by the Central Military Commission and the military region are buried in the hero platform.
Among the 937 martyrs, 632 died in the battle to regain Laoshan and Balihe River in April 1984, and 77 died in other battlefields. Their brilliant achievements will be recorded in the glorious history forever. Their famous names are as brilliant as the sun, and coexist with the rivers and rivers.
