This year's May Day, my husband and I took our 3.5-year-old child to Beijing. Although we often travel to Beijing on business, this is the first time we have brought children there.
Main itinerary:
April 29, Chongqing - Beijing
April 30, China Science and Technology Museum
May 1st, Tsinghua University, Olympic Park
May 2, Railway Museum, 798 Art Zone
May 3, the Palace Museum
May 4, Beijing - Chongqing

On the evening of April 29th, departure

In order to save money, I bought a plane near nine o'clock in the evening, China Southern Airlines.

Chongqing Jiangbei International Airport

Before departure, I bought a suitcase that can sit on.

Chongqing Jiangbei International Airport

When we arrived in Beijing, it was half past eleven. Take a taxi to the hotel.
My husband chose the Weiming Junhe Hotel in Chaoyang District. This hotel is a new one and has a lot going for it.

First, the location is very good, very close to the subway station, the Olympic Park, China Science and Technology Museum, etc.
The second is that there are many supporting facilities in the surrounding area, many shops, fruit shops, and there are many snacks and eating tools in the south.
The third is that the room is very large. We live in a nearly 70-square-meter suite with a shower room, a bathtub, and a small refrigerator. The hotel has breakfast in the morning.

The next morning dawned very early, and the children woke up before seven o'clock.
I ate some of the bread I brought for breakfast, and went downstairs to Huahui Supermarket to buy pancakes.

This store is inside the supermarket, but it is independently operated.
The pancakes are huge and taste great!

After eating, we walked to the China Science and Technology Museum.
You can see the Olympic Tower on the road, and the sky in Beijing is so blue.

We bought the tickets online in advance, and we are afraid that we will not be able to buy them on the spot.

China Science and Technology Museum

The colorful lights at the door will constantly change their shapes.

China Science and Technology Museum

As well as the shape of this mechanical group, children also like it very much, and have watched it for a long time.

China Science and Technology Museum

The Children's Science Paradise for children is being remodeled recently, but everything has been moved to the side for a special exhibition.
Tickets are purchased separately.

China Science and Technology Museum

At noon, we had dinner at the audience restaurant on the basement level.

China Science and Technology Museum

There are so many people, you need a sharp eye to find a seat.
The set meal tastes okay.

China Science and Technology Museum

After coming out of the children's science exhibition area, we went to see a dome movie.
The duration is about 30 minutes, and I watched "The Birth of the Earth".
Children are not used to watching popular science videos, so they can watch them with their parents.

After reading it, go to the other three floors of regular exhibition areas.
What children like most is the display of various small ball sports, which can stand for a long time. If it wasn't for playing with other children, I think he could play forever.

China Science and Technology Museum

I played in the China Science and Technology Museum until it closed at 4:30 and close to 5:00.

On the way back to the hotel, the children were not in good spirits, so they found Jiahe Yipin porridge downstairs nearby.
Went early and there was no one there.

Jiahe Yipin Porridge

This porridge is very interesting, and it also has words printed on glutinous rice paper, saying "Happy Labor Day".

Jiahe Yipin Porridge

Eight-treasure porridge, scallion pancakes, and sauced beef are all delicious.

The child almost fell asleep while eating, and hurried back to the hotel to sleep after eating.

May 1st, Tsinghua University, Olympic Park

The children woke up at seven o'clock in the morning. After packing, find a small shop nearby to have breakfast.

Although it is a shop selling Malatang, the breakfast is all Beijing style.
Beijing's tofu nao, my husband and I both like it.

After breakfast, take subway line 15 to Tsinghua University.
There is an alumni card, so we entered through the small door next to the Academy of Fine Arts.
It is said that ordinary tourists need to make an appointment online, and they are only allowed to enter from the west gate.
After entering the school, we headed north first, wandering around the Zijing apartment all morning.

Tsinghua University

Pass by the East District Gymnasium and Swimming Pool.
Went to Xicao and Bauhinia playground to run with my father.

Tsinghua University

At noon, I made an appointment with a friend who is a teacher at the school, and had lunch together in the school staff cafeteria.
In the afternoon, my friend took his 2-year-old baby to go shopping with us.
The two children picked up leaves, chased and played, and they didn't want to take a nap.

Finally, punch a card at the second school gate.

Dinner was a treat for friends, and I ate it in a Shanxi restaurant.

Jinfeng Manor

Delicious Braised Vegetables

Jinfeng Manor

And the heroic red willow skewers, as well as the noodles that children like, they are so full!

Jinfeng Manor

We went back to the hotel at about six o'clock in the evening, and it was still dark, so we took the children to the Olympic Park for a tour.

Olympic Forest Park

There are a lot of people, and the crowd does not recede even when it is late.
Make a card at the door of the bird's nest, and drag the children back to the hotel to sleep.

May 2, Railway Museum, 798 Art Zone

Breakfast in the morning is the previous Jiahe Yipin Congee, a buffet breakfast of 15 yuan per person in the morning.
But there are a lot of people, so there is nothing to do if you go late.
After breakfast, take a taxi to the Eastern Suburbs of China Railway Museum.

Eastern Suburbs of China Railway Museum

This is a museum with many train displays, a paradise for railway lovers.
Steampunk style, especially suitable for taking pictures.

The outdoor area is free, and the indoor area is 20 yuan/person.

The indoor locomotive is more refined, and there are two locomotives for tourists to climb into the cab to watch and operate.

There is also a special train for business, which is dedicated to Chairman Mao and Premier Zhou, with a separate charge of 10 yuan per person.
After strolling around, the children were very interested in the poplars in a place, so they sat on the ground and picked up the poplars.
Well, as long as you like it.

Eastern Suburbs of China Railway Museum

The disadvantage of the Railway Museum is that the surrounding facilities are very poor and there is nothing to eat.
After we finished shopping, we took a taxi to the 798 Art Zone.

Beijing 798 Art District

Have lunch at this shop.

Turned around a bit, all kinds of industrial style decoration.
I found a cafe called Fangye to rest, and later found out that it was an Internet celebrity cafe.
We sat there for a long time and took a nap.

Yoshino Cafe

In the afternoon, I went to Plaza 751 in C12 and watched a so-called immersive art show called "The Wizard of Oz".
Feeling average, not recommended.

Beijing 798 Art District

The children started to feel sleepy again in the afternoon. We dragged him to Area A, and more and more people left.
Finally, go out from the north gate and take the bus.

Places like 798 are more suitable for young literary and artistic youths to hang out, and then find a coffee shop to sit for an afternoon. It's still a little too tiring dragging the kids.

May 3, the Palace Museum

On the morning of the 3rd, it was still the buffet breakfast of Jiahe Yipin Congee.
Because of the trouble of transferring and the closure of the Tiananmen Square subway entrance, we chose to take the bus to the Forbidden City.
The children were very excited to see the braided bus in Beijing.

Get off near Wangfujing and go west.
The child started to dawdle after walking a few steps, so he had to lure him with a drink.

Wangfujing Pedestrian Street

When I walked to Donghuamen, I found that I needed to enter from the Meridian Gate, and walked around the moat to the Meridian Gate.

Forbidden City

Tickets for the Forbidden City were sold out that day. We bought tickets online in advance and swiped our ID cards to get in.

Forbidden City

After walking a few steps, the kid sat down on the square in front of the Taihe Hall.

Forbidden City

I play stones in the Forbidden City.
All right, as long as you're happy.

Forbidden City

Sit for a while and continue walking, along the east route recommended by the "Micro Forbidden City", from the Hall of Supreme Harmony to the Hall of Clocks and Watches and the Hall of Treasures.

Forbidden City

The watch hall is relatively small, with a lot of people, and there was a queue at the door for about 30 minutes.
The children were very happy to see the exquisite clocks after entering.
But then he asked: "When do (the clocks) go? I want to make them move."
Baby, mother doesn't know when they will be able to move. It is not easy to see them.

In the Treasure Hall, you can see the algae well that the Hall of Supreme Harmony cannot see.

Forbidden City

Turned around, came out from Shenwumen, walked along the moat to the vicinity of the National Art Museum of China to take the subway.

Passing by the National Art Museum of China.

National Art Museum of China

Go back to the hotel to have a rest, and go to Quanjude to eat roast duck at night.
We arrived a few minutes short of five and were told to wait for a table.
Wow, business is great too! Fortunately, we didn't have to wait too long.

Quanjude Roast Duck Restaurant

I ordered half a roast duck, duck blood with leeks, fried lamb with scallions, marinated duck gizzards and old Beijing dim sum.
The kids just ate the roast duck, rolled it up with the crust, and ate six or seven rolls, and the two of us finished the rest.

Quanjude Roast Duck Restaurant

Eat more than 400 points, including 10% service charge.
In fact, there are many other cost-effective roast ducks in Beijing. You can eat it once in Quanjude.

Return on May 4

In the morning, I bought pancakes at the supermarket for breakfast. The pancakes are so delicious!
After eating, take the bus to the subway to the airport. The children finally sat on the braided bus that they had been longing for.
It was still early at the airport, and the children played in the children's play area at the airport for nearly two hours, very happy.

Chongqing Jiangbei International Airport

Chongqing Jiangbei International Airport

Overall, the itinerary went well.
Beijing is still too big a city, especially for small children, it is very hard to walk.
In the 5-day itinerary, his happiest was actually watching the ball in the Science and Technology Museum on the first day, playing with his little brother on the second day, and being in the airport amusement area on the last day.
The Forbidden City and the like may be a little too early for him.
Coupled with the large number of people on May 1st, popular attractions such as Tiananmen, the Great Wall, and the National Expo were not visited, let alone some niche attractions.
But it doesn't matter, I will definitely go again in the future.
