When mentioning Benxi, Liaoning in the past, most of them thought of minerals, but now when mentioning Benxi, it is tourism. When it comes to the scenic spots in Benxi, the most famous one is the Benxi Water Cave, which is well-known far and near, and there is an endless stream of tourists, many of whom are from Hong Kong, Macao, Taiwan and Japan.

Benxi Water Cave and the Shihua Cave in Fangshan, Beijing that I know well are both well-known karst caves in the north, but the interior scenery is completely different. To enter the cave, you need to take a boat, just like the feeling of "stalactites, strange peaks, thousands of views, light boats, clear water, poetry and painting".

During the Anti-Japanese War, the Kwantung Army once occupied this cave as an arsenal, and the fortified barriers made the local residents stay away. It was not until the end of the 1950s that archaeological teams and geological exploration teams sent by the government successively entered the cave for survey and excavation. The archaeological team unearthed stone needles and axes from the Neolithic period at the entrance of the cave, as well as human production and living utensils from the Yin and Shang Dynasties to the Jin and Yuan Dynasties, such as bone needles, pottery, iron ware, bronze ware and other utensils. Research on climate and geographical environment has provided valuable information.

In the Water Cave Scenic Area, apart from the Water Cave attractions, there are also the Benxi Petrified Wood Kingdom and the Geological Museum. Benxi Water Cave Petrified Wood Kingdom is an extension of Benxi National Geological Park, and there are many petrified woods in the park.

Petrified wood, also known as "stone tree", is a product of the late Middle Jurassic period. 140 million years ago, the climate here was warm and tall trees were luxuriant. Due to volcanic eruptions and sudden fractures in the strata, plants were buried underground. Next, after a long period of petrification, the organic matter in the wood was replaced by siliceous minerals in the groundwater, and through crustal movements such as stratum uplift, these wood fossils were pushed out of the ground, thus forming petrified wood.

At this point, everyone should ask, is this the only scenic spot in Benxi? Wrong, and...

This place is different from other places. It is green here because it is full of moss.

Moss, a plant that grows in a large area, also looks very spectacular. For example, moss temples in Japan are civilized because of moss.

There are many places like this in our country. I went to Huanglong in Aba Prefecture last November and saw moss on the snow-capped mountains. This time I came to Green Stone Valley in Benxi, Liaoning, the largest moss stone group in Northeast China, and found that the moss here is also very good. Hundreds of moss are attached to the stones, which look green...
