The site is located in Chaoyang Village, Hexing Town, 47 kilometers away from Dejiang County, covering an area of more than 60,000 square meters. The ancient ruins are built on the Dafo Mountain along the gentle slope, facing Beihuyan and Jiaoziding in front, backed by Dafo Mountain, overlooking the Xiaoshui River in the south, and connecting with Longxi in the north.
There is a small stream running through its territory from north to south, and merged with Xiaoshui River to form a major tributary of the main stream of Wujiang River. The ancient ruins are surrounded by mountains and surrounded by city walls. Due to the long time, the buildings of the ruins have been seriously damaged.
The remaining buildings of the ruins include city walls, government offices, guest houses, moats, bazaars, official roads, city gates, courtyards, laneways, house foundations and ancillary facilities. Outside the wall are racetracks, martial arts training grounds, academies, Xizi Pavilions, temples, ancient tombs, etc. The core part of the site is the city wall, lanes and government offices, which are built along the gentle slope, and 6 lanes are arranged horizontally. Each lane courtyard is about 20 meters wide, extending longitudinally into 3-5 courtyards, and entering and exiting through 1-2 grotto doors. Between the alleys and courtyards, two tall and solid stone zygote walls are built longitudinally to separate them, forming a five-foot-wide alleyway at the same time.
The overall building is planned and constructed in a unified manner, with reasonable layout and consistent style. There are four gates on the southeast, south and north of the outer wall, and one moat pool on each side. There are stone walls, stone corridors, stone official roads, stone dragon gates, stone step eaves, stone courtyard dams, stone foundations, and stone drainage ditches throughout the site. The stone step eaves of three or five-room houses are paved with only three or five stone plinths. through the head. The raw stone is usually 4 meters long, more than 1 meter wide and 20 centimeters thick, and its estimated weight is more than 3 tons. The largest one is 628 centimeters long, 110 centimeters wide, 25 centimeters thick, and its estimated weight is more than 4.5 tons.
The tenon and groove connection between the boulders is solid and stable. There is no need for lime and other adhesives to install, but it is seamless. The materials and stones are all finely chiseled, and the chiseled roads are even and straight, forming various geometric patterns. There are 18 stone walls with a height of 2 meters and a length of more than 20 meters. They are all double-layer sandwich walls made of raw stone, and filled with river sand. The lanes in the courtyard are entered and exited by Shilongmen, which are thick in stone and large in size. From inside and outside the ancient ruins, city walls, city gates, laneways, house foundations, courtyards, sentry booths, barracks, prisons, martial arts training grounds, gardens, markets, stage, temples, ancient towers, official roads, moats and drainage systems, defense systems and other facilities It can be seen that the construction of ancient ruins has a strong sense of defense and fire protection.
There is a temple on the southern slope of Chaoyang Mountain, which is called Chaoyang Temple or Yongsheng Temple. The temple is about 2 kilometers away from the ancient ruins, on the Xiaoshui River, and the date of its construction is unknown. According to Daoguang's "Sinan Fu Xuzhi": "Chaoyang Temple, eighty miles west of the city, belongs to An (Anhua County territory), the oldest temple." According to the temple inscription, until the 20th year of Daoguang in the Qing Dynasty (1840), presided over There are a total of 39 lives. If each life is counted as 25 years, the age can be pushed up to 975 years. The temple may have been built in the reign of Emperor Yizong of Tang Dynasty or before.
