At 7:00 am on May 22, 2019, I had a buffet breakfast at the hotel, deposited my luggage at the front desk, took bus No. 10 at the train station, got off at Shengli Bridge East, walked under the overpass, and transferred at another bus stop The 835 branch goes to North Central University in Shanxi Province. North University of China was not in the travel plan. I planned to go to the Taiyuan Museum that day, but I learned that the museum is now closed on the Internet. I found that there is a Jindou Doctor’s Temple that is quite old, which happens to be adjacent to North University of China. I think it’s a temporary idea. Why don’t you go to China? North University for a walk.

We got off at the terminal station, North University of China, at nearly 10:00 in the morning. We went to Doctor Dou Temple by a small road on the right side of the university, and walked about 200 meters to the scenic spot. Tickets for the scenic spot are 20 yuan, free for those over 60 years old.

Doctor Dou Temple, also known as Yingji Temple and Lieshi Temple, is located in Shanglan Village, 20 kilometers northwest of Taiyuan City, on the left side of Fenhe Canyon; it is adjacent to Erlong Mountain in the north, Lieshi Hanquan on the left, and Zhao Daiwen Temple on the right. In the Spring and Autumn Period, it was the ancestral temple of Dou Ji (chōu), a senior official in the state of Jin. Dou Ji, courtesy name Mingdu, was enfeoffed in present-day Taiyuan. He once opened a canal in Langmeng (now Huangzhai, Yangqu) to prosper, so he was commemorated by later generations; in the eighth year of Yuanfeng in Song Dynasty (1085), Shenzong granted him the title of Marquis of Yingji . Therefore, the temple is also called Yingji Temple.

It is unknown when it was founded, but the sentence "Stay in a horse to see the statue of Dou Ji" in Li Pin's "You Lieshi" in the Tang Dynasty proves that this temple existed in the Tang Dynasty. In June of the eighth year of Song Yuanfeng, the temple was flooded by the Fen River, so it was moved northward and rebuilt. There are many inscriptions in the past dynasties. Among the existing buildings, the Shanmen, Xiandian, and the main hall were rebuilt in the third year of Yuan Zhizheng (1343), and some parts still have the architectural style of the Song and Jin dynasties; Rigorous and unique.

The temple building is majestic and magnificent, simple and deep; the surrounding environment of the temple is very beautiful: the clear spring gurgles out from the cang cliff of Lieshi Mountain, which is so clear that you can count fish; The ancient temples complement each other, elegant and interesting, and "Lieshi Hanquan" has become one of the scenic spots in Taiyuan. In front of the small temple next to Hanquan, there is an inscription with the word "Lingquan", which is said to be written by Zhao Ji, Emperor Huizong of Song Dynasty. There are many arborvitae in the temple, with thick branches.

There are more than 50 halls in Doctor Dou Temple. Among them, the Longshan Gate of the Liuli Tuan, the square caisson-style pavilion, and the five hanging-mountain-style main halls are all relics of the Yuan Dynasty, and some of them retain the Song and Jin styles. In the hall, there is a statue of a doctor, with a beautiful beard and long beard, and a personable demeanor. On the left is a sycamore tree. It is said that touching it can cure all diseases. It is still smooth and round, and its light can be used as a guide. There are also eight sceneries in the temple, and "shrine parasol" is one of the eight sceneries.

Outside the scenic area, there is a small river opposite. The river is clear and the scenery is excellent. It is located at the so-called "cold spring".

Although Dr. Dou is not considered an outstanding figure in history, this shrine is worth visiting due to its age and the surviving historic sites. Especially since it is adjacent to North Central University, it is reasonable to visit it by the way. After swimming past Doctor Dou Temple, it was around 11:00 in the morning, and we returned to the gate of Peking University. The school is an open campus, and no one obstructs us, so we can come and go as we please. At the entrance, there is a statue of General Peng Dehuai riding a horse. Only after seeing the introduction next to it, we know that the predecessor of this university was originally a military academy.

North University of China, referred to as "Zhongbei", is located in Taiyuan, the capital of Shanxi Province. North University of China is still a garden-style campus, and the Erlong Mountain Scenic Area is on the campus. If you have time, you can climb the mountain and look down from the top to see the whole picture of the university. However, the weather was extremely hot that day, and when we climbed to the mountainside, we were sweating and panting, so we stopped halfway.

Another advantage of visiting the university is that you can eat in the school cafeteria, the meals are cheap and diverse. We also ate lunch in the student cafeteria this time. The trouble is that we still have to borrow a classmate’s meal card. The two young girls are very enthusiastic about cooking for us. We pay her the meal fee by WeChat, which is also very convenient.

After 1:00 p.m., we left North University of China, took the 835 branch line back to the East of Shengli Bridge at the gate of the school, and then transferred to Changfeng Square in Taiyuan City. There is a new cultural area in Taiyuan City. There are not only Taiyuan City Museum, but also Shanxi Provincial Science and Technology Museum. library and library, where the rest of the time is to be spent.
