Nam Co - one of the three holy lakes in Tibet
?Sacred Elephant Tianmen~ is located on the famous Chadonanka Island on the north coast of Namtso. In the past two years, due to the development of the information network, it has gradually entered people's field of vision. The gate was just built this year.
transportation
There are two options: 1. Self-driving 2. Reporting to a group; both need to be booked in advance, especially if you go by car, you must book at least one day in advance! Be sure to book in downtown Lhasa before departure
Tickets:
Holy Elephant Tianmen separate ticket ¥80
Reporting a group to go for two days and one night is about ¥400
Namtso ticket ¥120 Free admission in winter, but it seems that there is an extra sightseeing fare
route:
1. Starting from Damxung County, you need to pass through the regular scenic spots of Namtso and buy tickets together. The journey is 147 kilometers;
2. Departing from Bangor County, passing through Qinglong Township to directly reach the Holy Elephant Tianmen, the journey is 168 kilometers
3. Starting from Qinglong Township, select the "walking" mode in the navigation, and it is only less than 70 kilometers to the Holy Elephant Tianmen. For details, you can ask the local Tibetans
stay:
1. Depart from Damxung, live in Damxung, or a homestay on the south bank of Namco (the conditions are very difficult);
2. Depart from Bangor, live in Bangor, usually take the Great Northern Line;
3. Due to time constraints, the above two counties cannot be reached, and there is no camping equipment, so live in Qinglong Township
This is the nearest township to the Holy Elephant Tianmen, but the township has basically declined, and the accommodation conditions are very poor. There is only one women's union that can live in a bed for ¥50, but because it is usually provided to Tibetans passing by, the quilt is not very clean. In addition, her home also provides food, so don’t count on other restaurants in the village (don’t ask me how I know)
There is Qinglong Village under Qinglong Township, which is the residence of local Tibetans. They work in Qinglong Township. If there is only one person, they can try to stay in a Tibetan home for one night, but if there are too many people, they will not be happy to receive them.
4. In the sleeping car of Qinglong Township
5. Those who have camping conditions can directly find a place on the north bank of Namtso or camp directly beside the Holy Elephant Tianmen
6. Those who report to the group will provide accommodation, so I won’t go into details (mainly I drive by myself, and I can’t judge whether their accommodation is good or bad)
tips:
1. The average altitude here is about 4500, pay attention to the high reflection
2. Camping may be my most recommended. If the weather is fine and cloudless that day, then the starry sky at night must be beautiful
3. I think the Tianmen of the Holy Elephant is much more beautiful than that of the Tashi Peninsula. They are all Namtso. It is recommended to only take the north bank; if you have enough time, you can drive around the lake.
4. For self-driving cars, small cars are not recommended. 50 kilometers of non-paved roads can break your chassis, and ordinary SUVs can
5. Before entering the scenic spot from the gate, it is recommended to solve the major life events in the toilet on the right side of the gate
6. Those who live in Qinglong Township, girls should pay attention. There is no toilet in the whole township, and there is no one to take a bath. The hot water can be boiled by the boss, but please use it sparingly.
7. Be sure to pay attention to the amount of oil and fill it up in two counties. Otherwise, it will be like asking Tibetans to buy oil in Qinglong Township. This is the most expensive trip to Tibet so far.
8. Those who take the route around the lake must either follow the ruts or take the normal paved road. The grassland is the pasture of the Tibetans, so don't crush it!
9. Finally, to reiterate, don't litter! ! Do not litter! ! Do not litter! !
Summarize:
The above is based on the overview of the Holy Elephant Tianmen in mid-September 2020 and before, but while the gate is being built, a similar visitor center is also being built later. There will definitely be no shortage of accommodation and food here in the near future. Blessed are the future friends up.
