In early and mid-April 2021, when traveling to Tibet, I once visited Laigu Glacier. The photo was taken in Laigu Glacier.

Laigu Glacier is a collective name for a group of glaciers. It is located in Laigu Village, Ranwu Town, Basu County, Qamdo Prefecture, Tibet, next to Ranwu Lake. From Ranwu Town to the ancient village, we have been walking along the shore of Ranwu Lake, known as the "West Heaven Yaochi". The bushes on both sides of the lake are superimposed with white clouds and blue sky, which are reflected in the lake water to form a picture painted with thick colors.

The name Laigu Glacier comes from a small village next to the glacier - Laigu Village. The Tibetan language of Laigu Village means a hidden, paradise-like village. Laigu Village is hidden in the green sky of the surrounding rolling hills, and seems to be intentionally hidden by nature, hence the name Laigu Village. The picture shows the prayer tower in Laigu Village.

Laigu Village is only more than 20 kilometers away from National Highway 318 of Sichuan-Tibet Highway, surrounded by beautiful lakes and magnificent snow peaks. Standing here, you can see 6 marine glaciers. This natural landscape is unique in China and even in the world. An excellent place to watch glaciers in our country. The picture shows the profile of Laigu Glacier.

In terms of climate, Laigu Village is located in the main channel for the Indian Ocean monsoon to transport cold air to the Qinghai-Tibet Plateau. The precipitation is sufficient, which is conducive to the development of glaciers and belongs to marine glaciers. Photos were taken en route.

There is a management station when entering the glacier, selling tickets and prohibiting vehicles from entering.

At the entrance, there are many Tibetan villagers leading horses to solicit business.

Most people choose to ride horses to the ancient glacier

But riding a horse does not come to the ancient village, but to the Moraine Lake not far away.

If you don’t ride a horse, you have to walk from the road at the entrance to the viewing platform of the ancient glacier, and you have to walk 3 or 4 kilometers. The picture shows fellow Tibetans encountered on the road.

The road conditions are good, but it is hard work all the way up the mountain, but it is worth it. That's the way I go. The picture shows fellow Tibetans encountered on the road.

Laigu Glacier is the largest and widest glacier known in Tibet, and one of the three largest glaciers in the world. It is the source of the Palong Zangbo River, where melted ice and snow flow into Ranwu Lake. The photo was taken in Laigu Glacier.

Laigu Glacier is composed of 6 glaciers: Meixi Glacier (Death Glacier), Yalong Glacier, Ruojiao Glacier, Xiongjia Glacier and Niuma Glacier. The photo was taken in Laigu Glacier.

As the altitude rises, Laigu Glacier gradually reveals its true face. Someone was taking pictures on the side of the road.

On the boulders by the roadside, someone piled Mani stones.

This is the motto on the boulder by the roadside.

When I came to the viewing platform of Laigu Glacier, there was no one there!

Standing on the viewing platform, the scene is majestic. Dazzling white and dazzling blue are the main colors here, the white is the glacier, and the blue is the ice floes floating on the ice.

Standing on the edge of the frozen lake, Laigu glaciers in various poses and with different expressions are right in front of me, and the cool wind blows over my hair. I feel like I am in a dream. Maybe only in the dream can I return to the distant Ice Age.

The Panshan Road leads to the distance. It is said that the Yalong Glacier of Laigu Glacier is 12 kilometers long.

Large chunks of floating ice presented a crystal clear blue, that pure and transparent blue flashed to my eyes and shocked my heart!

Next to the viewing platform, there is a warning sign: No playing on the ice! Otherwise, I really want to go to the ice surface to see.

Many glaciers surrounding Laigu Village have formed many ice lakes in front of the village. Due to the different geology and soil composition of different glaciers, each ice lake will reflect different colors. There is a large ice lake floating on the ice lake. The large and small icebergs really look like they have arrived in Antarctica. The photo was taken in Laigu Glacier.

A bird's-eye view of the road from ancient glaciers, snow-capped mountains, glaciers, lakes, grasslands, yaks, scattered houses, the scenery is spectacular.

The snow water melted by Laigu Glacier flows into Ranwu Lake.

The maroon horse and the snow-capped mountains in the background are like an oil painting!

It is said that the best photography season for Laigu Glacier is April, and we came just in time. The picture shows the entrance overlooking the Laigu Glacier.
