Yalun's travel: We live in a multi-ethnic country and can come into contact with rich and colorful multi-ethnic cultures. During my travels around China, I have also been to many areas where ethnic minorities live in concentrated communities, and I have seen the different lives of many ethnic minorities. And this ethnic group I met in Lancang, Yunnan left a deep impression on me!

After crossing mountains and ridges from Lincang to Lancang Lahu Autonomous County, I stayed in the county town for one night, and after walking around the county town the next day, I came to this courtyard full of local characteristics. This is a house built by the Lahu people. Although it is also a farm restaurant now, it still carefully preserves the habits and characteristics of the ethnic group.

When I first came in, I was completely attracted by the thatched cottage. There are no loud crowds, and the quiet atmosphere makes me even more fascinated by the food here. This kind of thing follows the ancient custom of floor-to-ceiling thatched huts. The roof is first covered with a layer of battens made of pillars, then covered with thatch, and surrounded by bamboo fences. The feeling of entering the house is particularly wonderful, as if Their long history can be seen through these objects.

The Lahu nationality is one of the oldest ethnic groups in China. It is mainly distributed on the west bank of the Lancang River. The national language is Lahu language. After coming here, I found an interesting phenomenon, that is, there are gourds or totems of gourds in the streets of the city or in this Lahu house. After asking, I found out that they call themselves "the nation born in the gourd", which has to be told from a local folklore.

According to legend, a long time ago, a major flood occurred on the earth, and almost everything was washed away. In order to preserve the hope of human reproduction, the ancestors of mankind put fifty pairs of men and women into fifty big gourds and let them drift with the waves. Later, one of the gourds drifted to this plateau at an altitude of nearly 2,000 meters, and was divided into two halves after the flood subsided. The man and woman who came out of the gourd are the ancestors of the "Lahu people" who lived in this land today. Therefore, until today, the Lahu people call themselves "the nation born in the gourd". Now, every year from October 15th to 17th of the lunar calendar, the Lahu people will celebrate the special festival "A Peng A Long Ni", which is the Gourd Festival.

Under the eaves of the hut, there are gourds, corn, fungi, pumpkins and other plants hanging, and outside the bamboo fence are their own vegetable gardens and trees. The people in the kitchen are busy, and the smoke is billowing from the yard. Sitting in such a primitive room, I feel like I am in an imaginary world, which is a little unreal.

The firepit is a major feature of the thatched huts of the Lahu people. The round firepit in this house is no longer used for cooking. It is more used for boiling water, roasting tea and heating in winter. When I first came, a grandpa was warming up by the fire, and then he got up and went to work. I also sat on a bamboo stool and experienced the fire in the Lahu firepit. When the warmth filled my whole body from my hands to my feet, I felt an indescribable sense of tranquility in my heart.

I also drank local specialty roasted tea! This is a drink that the Lahu people usually like very much. Before roasting tea, put the clay pot in the fire to simmer, then put the tea leaves in the pot to roast, and then pour boiling hot water, when the tea makes a sound, Immediately, the fragrance of tea will be overflowing, which is a must for entertaining guests. After drinking roasted tea, I like this clay pot even more. I always feel that it has a story that has been roasted countless times.

The Lahu people with a long history are also influenced by the Han and Dai peoples to a certain extent in terms of food and clothing and other living customs. In places where they have more contact with the Han and Dai people, Lahu men and women also like to wear Han styles. and Dai-style clothing. This is the first time for me to be a guest of the Lahu people during my travels, and it also gives me the opportunity to get in touch with this ancient people up close and understand their enthusiasm and simplicity. Which nationality do you most want to be a guest? Tell me about your favorite nation!
