The Western porcelain of that year was very beautiful
The former site of Mengzi Customs used to be the school building of the School of Arts and Law of Southwest Associated University. Wen Yiduo, Chen Daisun, Zheng Tianting, Chen Yinke and other literati and professors lived here.
There is a Chinese architectural heritage of the 20th century by the South Lake, witnessing the history of customs trade 130 years ago (Honghe Jianshui Tour 4) Photo and text: Liu Guoxiong
Before I came to Nanhu Lake, I really didn't know that Mengzi's history and connotation are so profound.
There is the pride of the Mengzi people around Nanhu Lake, and that area is also their favorite place, and of course it also touched me.
On the second day of the first day of 2019 (2.6), we traveled by car to Mengzi, Yunnan. The first stop was Nanhu Park. The first thing we wanted to see was the old site of Mengzi Customs. This old site is located at No. 1 Nanhu South Road, on the shore of the beautiful South Lake. When you come here, you will first see a red exterior wall with two signs on each side of the door. In addition to the former site of Mengzi Customs, this is also the former site of classrooms at the Mengzi Branch of Southwest Associated University, the former site of the Mengzi General Post Office, and the former site of Mengzi Customs. History showroom.
Walking into the gate, I found that there is only one Chinese-style house here, which has been repaired, but this house is very beautiful. It is a national key cultural relic protection unit and a Chinese architectural heritage of the 20th century, which is also very impressive.
Walking into the showroom, I found that although the sparrow is small, it has all the internal organs. There are quite a lot of content in it. Through pictures, texts, real objects, animation demonstrations, etc., the historical scene of customs trade at that time is truly reproduced, and the historical stories carried by the former site of Mengzi Customs are presented to the world.
Mengzi Customs was completed and officially opened in the 15th year of Guangxu (1889). It was the first customs and tax department opened in Yunnan after the Sino-French War. It is known as "the first customs in Yunnan". One of them has become the foreign exchange and foreign trade center of Yunnan and the postal service center of Yunnan. There used to be more than 50 houses here, but now there is only one building left. There is also a saying that the French building opposite its entrance was also one of the building complexes at that time.
In April 1938, it became the "Mengzi Branch of National Southwest Associated University". At that time, because of the flames of the Anti-Japanese War, Southwest Associated University, which was transferred to Kunming to establish a school, had to establish a branch in Mengzi. From the opposite side of the former customs site, which is the other side of the South Lake, these old houses left over from the Mengzi Foreign Trade Office have become the branch school buildings, where teachers and students have a semester of study time.

Visit the showroom. 130 years ago, the French colonists provoked the Sino-French War and signed an unequal treaty with the decadent Qing government. Mengzi was designated as a place for foreign trade, so a consulate was opened, and foreign trade flourished.

From the former site of Mengzi Customs, directly opposite is a French-style building called "French Garden": beige walls, vermilion spires, and wooden shutters.
The original name of the French Garden was "French Yunnan-Vietnam Railway General Administration" (commonly known as the Old Railway Bureau before liberation)
The building by the South Lake is still very conspicuous, come here remember to take a look
