In early and mid-April 2021, during my trip to Tibet, I visited the big bend of the Yarlung Zangbo River. The picture is a commemorative photo I took at the big bend in the Guoguotang of the Yarlung Zangbo River.

After arriving in Medog, we went to have lunch first. The photo was taken in Medog County.

To save time, we ate noodles at this Lanzhou ramen restaurant.

The noodle shop is not big, and there are many customers.

I ate a bowl of beef noodles.

After lunch, set off to visit the two big bends of the Yarlung Zangbo River in Medog. The picture shows the road into the Grand Canyon Scenic Area.

In 1994, Chinese scientists announced to the world a major geographical discovery: the Great Bend Canyon in the lower reaches of the Yarlung Zangbo River in Tibet, China is the largest canyon in the world, and its depth far exceeds that of the Colca Canyon in Peru (3200 meters deep), which was originally thought to be the deepest. The length also exceeds that of the Colorado Canyon in the United States (440 kilometers long), which was originally thought to be the longest in the world. Photos were taken en route.

Medog County has the world's top canyon landscape. The Yarlung Zangbo Grand Canyon in the territory is 504.6 kilometers long, the extreme depth is 6009 meters, and the average depth of the core area is 2673 meters. The majestic Grand Canyon landscape. Photos were taken en route.

Linduo Bend of the Yarlung Zangbo River Grand Canyon is located 113 kilometers away from the Zha-Mo Highway and 20 kilometers away from the county seat. The picture shows the sign board of Linduo Turning.

The canyon is steep and the river is turbulent. Surrounded by mountains, it is like a giant dragon suddenly turning here and rushing downstream. The photo was taken at the turn of the Yarlung Zangbo River in Linduo.

The forest is lush and verdant, the clouds and mist surround the mountains, and the Grand Canyon complements each other, forming a beautiful canyon wonder. The picture shows a commemorative photo I took at the corner of Linduo on the Yarlung Zangbo River.

The Medog Tropical Rainforest is the northernmost tropical rainforest on the earth. It is the area with the lowest altitude, the mildest temperature, the most abundant rainfall and the best ecological preservation on the Tibetan Plateau. The Yarlung Zangbo Grand Canyon in the territory is 504.6 kilometers long. The picture shows the Yarlung Zangbo Grand Canyon near Linduo Bend.

Beautiful residential buildings near Linda Bend

Although the Yarlung Zangbo River is right in front of us, the residents here are still used to collecting rainwater.

From another angle, Linduo turned a corner

The most distinctive landscape in the Yarlung Zangbo Grand Canyon is the "horseshoe" bend of the Yarlung Zangbo River located in Guoguotang. The photo was taken at the big bend of Guoguotang on the Yarlung Zangbo River.

The Yarlung Zangbo River Guoguotang Big Bend is located in Dexing Township, 12 kilometers away from Medog County. It is the most representative scenic spot in Medog, and it is also a scenery that every friend who comes to Medog can see with his own eyes. The magnificence of the scenery is breathtaking. The picture is a group photo taken by the 6 of us on this trip at the big bend in Guoguotang.

The Yarlung Zangbo River makes a big bend at Guoguotang, which is also called a serpentine bend locally. Guoguotang Big Bend is named Guoguotang because it looks like a lollipop when viewed from above. The photo was taken at the big bend of Guoguotang on the Yarlung Zangbo River.

In 2005, in the selection of "China's Most Beautiful Places" by "Chinese National Geography", the Yarlung Zangbo Grand Canyon and Namjagbarwa were respectively rated as the top ten most beautiful canyons in China and the top ten most beautiful mountains in China. The photo was taken at the big bend of Guoguotang on the Yarlung Zangbo River.

Guoguotang Big Turn is a natural wonder formed by the Yarlung Zangbo River when it flows through Medog. Due to topographical reasons, the turbulent river meets the mountain peaks and makes a 180-degree turn around the mountain peaks, forming this magnificent natural landscape. . This is a photo I took of my traveling friends and couple, they are very satisfied.

On the hill near the big bend in Guoguotang is a beautiful tea garden.

In addition, there are many places to visit and enjoy near the big serpentine bend of Guoguotang. The only way to it is Dexing Township, where there are specialties such as Motuo bamboo weaving, rattan weaving, loquat, lemon, honey pomelo, as well as delicious Motuo Stone Pot Chicken. The picture shows Tibetans weaving bamboo.

There is also a landscape in Dexing Township - Medog Tengwang Bridge, about 6 kilometers away from Medog County. The rattan net bridge is one of the most important crossing channels in Medog in the early years. It is woven with teng bamboo in the local forest. In the era when there was no bridge in Medog, in order to cross the fast-flowing Yarlung Zangbo River, the industrious and wise people of Medog came up with the method of weaving bridges with teng bamboo. Different rattan and bamboo are woven on it, which becomes a bridge across the river.

The rattan net bridge has no piers and no planks, and people walking on it sway from side to side in the wind, which is very scary. Liu Zanting of the Qing Dynasty once commented: "Forests spread for thousands of miles, flowers and trees are everywhere, vines are bridges, and sincerity is a paradise." There are now two rattan net bridges in Dexing Township, one of which was built later for tourism, for tourists to experience and take pictures.

The Dexing Rattan Bridge was restored in 2014 and spans the Yarlung Zangbo River. With the opening of the modern new bridge, the two ends of the nearby Dexing rattan bridge are now closed and no traffic is allowed. Now the restored rattan bridge has become a beautiful landscape on the Yarlung Zangbo River and a work of art for people to understand the history of Medog.
