Once upon a time, joking historical dramas were very popular among ordinary people, such as "Returning the Pearl and Princess", "Qianlong and Xiangfei" and other TV dramas involving Xiangfei. Its true and false. Therefore, a family cemetery in Kashgar, Xinjiang has also become a "famous tourist attraction", which is the tomb of Xiangfei.
Abak Hoja Mazar (Tomb of Fragrant Concubine)
Xiangfei is a folk saying. In history, Emperor Qianlong had only one Uighur concubine, namely "Concubine Rong". Concubine Rong's real name is Maimure Aizimu. According to legend, she has a strange fragrance since she was a child, and she is called "Ipalhan" (Uighur, meaning "fragrant girl"). She was chosen as a concubine by the emperor of the Qing Dynasty, and died of illness in the capital due to dissatisfaction. According to Qing history records, she lived in the palace for 28 years, died of illness at the age of 55, and was buried in the Yufei Garden Mausoleum of the Eastern Tomb of the Qing Dynasty in Hebei. According to folklore, Emperor Qianlong ordered 124 people to carry her coffin, and his sister-in-law Su Daixiang took three years to transport the body back to her hometown for burial. It is also said that it took Xiangfei's elder brother three and a half years to bring back her relics from Beijing and bury them in the northeast corner of the current Xiangfei's tomb, so Xiangfei's hometown is only her clothes tomb. Folklore is unbelievable.
Entrance of Xiangfei Hometown
The Xiangfei Hometown, also known as the Tomb of Apak Hoja, was built around 1640 in Chongzhen of the Ming Dynasty. It is a typical Islamic ancient mausoleum building and the family cemetery of Apak Hoja. "Hoja" means the descendants of saints. This mausoleum is buried with 72 members of Apak Hoja, the king of the "Hoja regime" in Kashgar and the leader of the Baishan faction, and his family for five generations. "Xiangfei" is the fifth-generation great-nephew of Apakhoja. She is a concubine, but her family status is not high. Because of the hype of "Xiangfei" among the people, this family cemetery is gradually called the hometown of Xiangfei, and it has become a popular tourist attraction.
The entire cemetery is a group of ancient buildings that are very beautifully constructed. It consists of scripture hall, high and low mosques, gatehouse, main tomb, orchard, etc., covering an area of about 72 mu. Buildings of different shapes constitute a multi-layered landscape with different heights and scattered patterns. Although it has been eroded by wind and sand, it is no longer as gorgeous as before, but it can still be seen from the decorations such as painted paintings and brick carvings outside the buildings. The former splendor of the Apak Hoja Tomb deserves to be the most grand cemetery in Xinjiang.
