So we set off from Yinchuan and went to a starry sky banquet in the desert, taking a trip of "Lonely Smoke in the Desert, Sunset in the Long River"! Seeing the majesty of the Yellow River, riding a camel across the desert, chasing stars in the desert, feeling the customs of Saibei, and experiencing the loneliness and romance of the desert, all these are realized in Ningxia.
DAY1 departure
Yinchuan-Zhongwei, a two-day and one-night self-driving tour, we set off from the Yinchuan International Exchange Center, and the fifth-generation Tucson L accompanied us through this journey.
When seeing it for the first time, the futuristic appearance is eye-catching! The daytime running lights and headlights extend from the middle to both sides like a pair of wings, making the vehicle look dynamic in the sun, and you can't help but stop and take a look while walking on the street. Of course, the driving experience is also very good, with plenty of power and quick start response. Although I seldom drive on the road, I can get a surprise from Tucson L!
It is said that the best time is on the road, taking a comfortable vehicle, setting off with the one you love, and slowly feeling that the city is gradually moving away from you. On the endless road, watching the blue sky and white clouds keep going backwards The scenery I drove to, the whole person was very comfortable, and I was in a good mood as if I had just set off.
Tucson L can be said to be a very suitable choice for self-driving travel. The waterfall-enveloping cockpit uses light colors as the main color, with fabric panels, giving people a warm home atmosphere. Moreover, the body is relatively ordinary, the seat is very spacious, and long legs can find their own comfortable posture. With two large suitcases and shooting equipment stuffed in the trunk, there is still more than enough space, and there is no tiptoe to get things. It not only satisfies our pursuit of speed and riding experience, but also makes the journey more comfortable and calm.
Driving from Yinchuan to Zhongwei, the scenery along the way is vast and handsome, and the road conditions are super good! As a southerner, I always have curiosity and longing for the scenery in the northwest, and Tucson L also accompanied us to record the scenery along the way. We saw rich terrains such as rivers, Gobi, deserts, oases, and wilderness. Landform, sigh that nature is always so wonderful~
【2】Shapotou Resort
The first stop of the journey is Shapotou, a 5A scenic spot in Zhongwei City, Ningxia, which is close to the Tengger Desert. Here we experienced the unique view of the Yellow River in the desert, and also played a lot of fun projects. This is simply Disney in the desert! !
I bought a package ticket for 375 yuan, and there is a very clear play route (you need to buy another ticket here, 80 yuan/person). Although the fee is not cheap, the experience is really nice! Here you can choose: desert cable car, off-road vehicle ride, camel ride, sheepskin raft rafting, sand boarding, etc...
Personally, the most interesting thing is sand boarding and sheepskin rafting on the Yellow River, which is exciting! The most relaxing thing is to ride a camel, sitting on a very well-behaved camel, accompanied by bursts of melodious camel bells on the road, it is refreshing~
The sand here is thin and soft, and the color is also beautiful golden yellow. It is soft to step on. Of course, walking a few steps is not enough. I want to run, jump, and even roll on it. Friendly reminder, if you don't want sand to enter your shoes, you can wear slippers or prepare shoe covers. I was wearing low-cut canvas shoes to take pictures, and when I came back after taking pictures, I took off my shoes and poured out a lot of sand hahaha
So, how can you forget to take pictures after seeing such a beautiful desert! It is recommended to take the time after 5 pm, the sun is not so glaring, and the desert that shines on it presents a warm golden color! At this time, Tucson L became our shooting props again. A good car can not only take you to more distant places, but also enrich your picture at the right time. In the desert with a single color tone, the white body is perfectly integrated, relying on changing several poses, it feels like shooting a blockbuster road movie!
When traveling here in summer, it is cooler in the morning and evening, and the period from noon to sunset is relatively dry and hot, so the advantage of coming here by car is that you can hide in the car and blow on the air conditioner. Played around outside, took a lot of beautiful photos and then returned to the car, blowing the cool air conditioner and just want to lie flat! Let's take a break, we can move on~
【3】Chasing stars in the desert
The most beautiful scenery is on the road, and the food that comforts the tiredness of the journey is the most comforting. After the sun went down, our group got together to have a super cool roast lamb meal, toasted and chatted together, and the fatigue of the day was relieved. dissipated!
The desert at night is empty and lonely, without the lights of the city and the noise of the crowd, the night sky is pure blue, looking up at the sky, I feel inexplicably small. And with the company of Tucson L, I have a little sense of security. When I feel lonely, I can return to this space that belongs to me.
I checked the guide before I came here. The night in the desert is beautiful, the stars seem to be within reach, and there is also an astronomical telescope, which allowed us to find the stars right away.

The second day [four] Helan Mountain rock paintings
After a comfortable sleep, we got up at noon the next day and had a delicious meal of local food before we continued our journey. This time our destination was the famous 4A-level scenic spot—Helan Mountain Rock Painting Scenic Area. There are not many people here, and the journey is very smooth. There are very few trees along the way, and the rocks on the roadside are carved by the power of nature, which is particularly visually impactful!
In ancient times, Helan Mountain was the place where the Xiongnu, Xianbei, Turks, Tubo, Dangxiang and other ethnic minorities lived, herded, hunted and multiplied. The rock paintings left here are all engraved in different periods, so they all contain the history, culture and customs of the ancient nomadic peoples, and they are precious national art galleries.
The first to arrive is the Yinchuan World Rock Art Museum, which is currently the largest petroglyph museum in the world. For those who don’t know about rock art, it is recommended that you find an explanation, which requires a separate payment (50 yuan). Observing the patterns of petroglyphs at close range and understanding their origins, I can't help but lament the rich imagination of the ancients, and how small I am. Passing by the Helan Mountain rock painting research base, I also rubbed a famous sun god rock painting. This painting exists as a mascot in the museum. Through it, we can feel their cultural beliefs thousands of years ago, and the patterns on it are also inexplicable. Feel a little cute!
Passing through the Rock Art Museum, we came to the foot of Helan Mountain. There are very interesting activities here. In order to integrate into the culture of Helan Mountain, we learned how the ancients made rubbings and tie-dyeing.
After finishing the previous activities, you can go to see the real rock paintings! Along the way, you can see a lot of strange patterns, mysterious and full of imagination. Many petroglyphs can be seen on the traces of the passing of time. After thousands of years of wind and rain, they have become a little blurred. But it also makes people wonder, what unique meaning did the ancients have when they carved these paintings? ~
When I checked the guide, I said that blue sheep, the national second-class protected animals, can be seen everywhere in the park. We were lucky and did not encounter them directly, but we can see them in the crevices of the rocks with a little attention.
