After seeing Ximen Dabanjing Tofu Square, we entered the ancient city from the west gate of Jianshui Ancient City, which is Qingyuan Gate, and it felt different from before.
I have already been to Jianshui 10 years ago, taking a shuttle bus from one county to another. At that time, the ancient city of Jianshui was relatively small, with only one tower. Now there are 4 gates. Although I have been to Yunnan many times in the past 10 years, most of them are self-driving tours, but I always take the expressway directly and do not go to Jianshui. So this time I took Honghe Jianshui as the destination and took a good stroll.
Although Jianshui can be regarded as the top few ancient towns in Yunnan and is also the third batch of famous historical and cultural cities in China, I always feel that its reputation is not that big enough. So after I went in, I never expected that during the Spring Festival, there would be so many people in Jianshui Ancient Town, comparable to Dali and Lijiang Ancient Towns, especially the oldest street, it was really crowded, no wonder it was so hard to find the night before Checked in at the hotel.
Jianshui was called Lin'an in ancient times. It was originally an earthen city built during the Nanzhao period. It was in the Yuanhe period of the Tang Dynasty (around 810), and was later expanded into a brick city in the 20th year of Hongwu in the Ming Dynasty (1387). There were originally 4 city towers, all of which were destroyed by the war, leaving the east gate - Chaoyang Tower, which has a history of more than 600 years. The current four city towers have been newly built, and there is also a high city wall near the west gate. With the increase of city gates, the ancient city has also expanded a lot, with an area of 3.3 square kilometers, and it has also been paved with bluestone roads. At the same time, all modern buildings have been demolished and restored to Ming and Qing style buildings.
There are more than 50 ancient buildings preserved here so far, and it is known as the "Museum of Ancient Architecture" and "Museum of Folk Houses". I have looked all the way, and it is true that many buildings are imitated old buildings. If you want to find the real ancient buildings, you have to look slowly and look slowly. The most concentrated ones are the Confucian Temple and Zhujia Garden, and tickets are required. But this is good, it is better than mixing many modern buildings in the ancient buildings, and it has more historical and cultural heritage.
In addition to temple studies, during the Ming and Hong years, Lin'an Prefecture School was established here, and Shuizhou Confucianism was established during the Wanli Institute. In the Qing Dynasty, Chongzheng, Huanwen and Chongwen Qujiang academies were successively established. Therefore, there are many literati and scholars here, and there are also many candidates in the imperial examination. Therefore, Jianshui has always been known as "a famous state in literature" and "Zoulu in southern Yunnan".

Puying Temple was built in the 3rd year of Chenghua in Ming Dynasty (1466 A.D.). It was rebuilt in the Qing Dynasty. Its building sits south and faces north, and it is a temple building with two entrances and two halls. Covers an area of 2300 square meters. There are more than 20 rooms of various types such as the front hall, the back hall, the book gallery, and the welcoming hall. It is a Qing-style building.
