The main body of the Ai Qing Poetry Museum is divided into three exhibition halls. The first exhibition hall is Ai Qing's life and major works, which describe Ai Qing's birth and growth process in detail; the second exhibition hall describes Ai Qing's later years, and the evaluation of Ai Qing by leaders of various countries and famous people in the literary and art circles; the third exhibition hall is Ai Qing's nostalgia for many artists. Ai Qing's life: On February 17th of the lunar calendar in 1910, Ai Qing was born in a small village called "Fantian Jiang" near Jinhua and Yiwu, Zhejiang Province. Originally named Jiang Zhenghan, styled Yangyuan, and nicknamed Haicheng, he was sent to Dayanhe's home because the fortune teller said "to overcome his parents", and Ai Qing's famous lyrical poem "Dayanhe—My Nanny" was born.
Ai Qing was particularly interested in painting and paper-cutting when he was young. He went to Paris in 1929 and returned to China in 1932. He was sentenced to 6 years in prison for joining the "League of Chinese Left-wing Artists". In 1935, Ai Qing was released from prison early and joined the ranks of advanced anti-Japanese elements, arriving in Zhangjiakou in 1945. In the 1950s, Ai Qing visited the Soviet Union, Chile and many other countries, and married Comrade Gao Ying in 1956. Came to Xinjiang in 1959 and lived in Shihezi for 15 years.
