Alishan Forest Railway is one of the three major mountaineering railways in the world today. Departing from Chiayi City, the train rises from an altitude of 30 meters to 2216 meters during a journey of more than 70,000 meters. Chiayi City - Independence Hill
To experience the atmosphere of the Alishan forest train, first buy a ticket at Chiayi Railway Station and set off. Inside the train are three rows of seats, one side is two rows together, and the other row is single seated. The train goes forward and arrives at Muqiliao Station. This station does not stop, but the tropical landscape is beautiful. The train continues to move forward and arrives at Independence Mountain in about half an hour. The railway circles Independence Mountain for three times, clockwise twice and counterclockwise once. , and then leave in the shape of 8, this is the famous "swing mountaineering".
Fenqihu Station
The train goes forward and arrives at Jiaoliping Station after passing through Liyuanliao Station. The tea gardens and fragrant cherry blossoms near Jiaoliping Station are very beautiful. When continuing to drive from Fenchihu Station to Alishan, due to the limited terrain, the train cannot continue to climb the mountain, so the train reverses and travels on another slope, just like the train hits the mountain wall and then goes backwards. Zhushan Line
After the train arrives at Alishan, there are three sightseeing lines for tourists to choose from, namely Zhushan Line, Shenmu Line, and Sleeping Moon Stone Monkey Line. If you want to go to Zhushan to watch the sunrise, you can take the train from Alishan to Zhuoping Station, and buy a ticket to go to Zhushan to watch the sunrise. It is worth noting that the departure time of the Zhushan Line will vary according to the sunrise time. It is recommended to check the departure time one day in advance.
Sleeping Moon Stone Monkey Line
If you want to go to the Stone Monkey Rest Area on the other side, you can buy a ticket for the Sleeping Moon Stone Monkey Line at Alishan Railway Station. The railway equipment is simple, the terrain along the way is steep, the cliffs are broken, and the small train is rickety. Many timid passengers dare not look out the window. If it is cloudy and foggy in the morning, the small train seems to be driving in the clouds, and the experience is very special.
Shenmu Line
If you want to breathe fresh air in the forest oxygen bar, I recommend the Shenmu Line. Take the cypress train full of fragrance, and the mist curls up.
