Hancheng Confucian Temple is located in Dongxue Lane, the old city of Hancheng City, Weinan, Shaanxi Province. It is a group of well-preserved Yuan Dynasty buildings. According to the records of "Yi Tong Zhi" in the Ming Dynasty: "Hancheng County School was established in the fourth year of Hongwu, and it was rebuilt at the old site in 1371 AD." "Shaanxi General Annals" contains: "In the fourth year of Hongwu, Zhou Jicheng, the county magistrate, was rebuilt." Although it was rebuilt by generations later, the structural shape of the main buildings in the temple remained basically unchanged. It is a representative ancient architectural complex existing in Shaanxi Province since the 13th century. Not far from the gate of the Confucian Temple, there are two archways in the east and west, one is "Xianguan" and the other is "Holy City". There are "virtuous crown ancient and modern" and "virtuous match heaven and earth" respectively on the archway. Enter the Confucian Temple through the two gates. In the south stands the Panlong Zhaobi, which is a glazed five-dragon wall, 17 meters long and 4.2 meters high. It is exquisitely carved and vivid. This was built in Wanli period of Ming Dynasty. On both sides of the five dragon walls, there are brick carvings of carp playing in the waves, which together mean "Dragon Fish River Picture". The Confucian Temple complex is divided into four courtyards. From Lingxing Gate to Jimen Gate is the first courtyard. There are towering ancient cypresses in the courtyard. According to records, these cypresses were all planted in the Yuan and Qing Dynasties. There is a pan pond in the courtyard, a double-hole stone bridge in the middle, and stone railings around the pond. There are symmetrical east-west houses in the courtyard, the "Changing Pavilion" on the east side, and the "Zhizhai Pavilion" on the west side, and there are six stele pavilions recording the overview of the reconstruction in the Ming and Qing dynasties. The three rooms in the north of the courtyard are "halberd gates". From Jimen to Dacheng Hall is the second courtyard. Dacheng Hall is the main building of the Confucian Temple, with the largest scale. It is located on the central axis. The foundation of the entire hall is a high stone platform, and the platform is a platform, surrounded by stone railings, carved with patterns of chi. Step up the stone steps to enter the hall. The Dacheng Hall is three rooms wide, five rooms dark, and four rooms deep. On the top of Tongwaxie Mountain, on both sides of the main hall are east and west corridors, each with thirteen rooms. There are corner gates to the north and east, and the back of the hall is separated by a flower wall, forming the third courtyard with Minglun Hall to the north. Minglun Hall was built in the fourth year of Hongwu in the Ming Dynasty. The preface of the three generations is based on the human relations of the Ming Dynasty, and later generations learned the meaning of the school. There are five halls, with east and west "Forest of Steles", "Jijiu Division" and "Dianku Division" on both sides, and a large plaque with the four characters "Dignity of Teachers" hangs in the middle of it. In the past, teaching theory and instruction were taught to all students and supervised here, and it is a place for educating talents. After passing through Minglun Hall, the "Zunjing Pavilion" on the high platform going up to the north constitutes the fourth courtyard. Zunjing Pavilion is the place where scriptures are stored. Looking around from the pavilion, you can see all the scenery of the county. The platform is 3.5 meters high, surrounded by flower walls, and is the top of the mountain with double eaves. The east and west sides are equipped with wing rooms.
