Anshun Confucian Temple was first built in the Ming Dynasty. After several generations of repairs and additions, it has been completed. It was built on the gentle slope of "Kongming Hill", and the buildings were arranged symmetrically along the central axis according to the regulations. The classics are complete, the layout is rigorous, and the craftsmanship is exquisite. It still retains the historical original appearance of the Ming and Qing Confucian Temples, and it is the most exquisite Confucian Temple in China.
There are four entrances to the Confucian Temple. Except for the fourth entrance which was destroyed, the other three entrances are well preserved. Because it is built against the mountain, the four entrances are also raised step by step. Entering a courtyard at the main entrance, there is a half-moon-shaped pool called Panchi. In ancient times, all scholars had to cross the stone bridge, which was called "You Pan". At the east and west ends of the courtyard, there are "Guixiang Pavilion" and "Zunjing Pavilion" respectively, which are the places where the list is announced during sacrifices. The third entry is a courtyard. The two stone dragons seem to descend from the sky, their bodies appear and disappear from time to time, and the heads of the dragons echo each other from a distance, which is lifelike. The stone lions at the base of the pillar are two male and female lions, the male lion is stepping on a hydrangea ball, and the female lion is breastfeeding a cub. Together with the other two stone dragon pillars outside Dacheng Gate, they are also known as the "Four Stone Carving Treasures of the Confucian Temple".
Anshun Confucian Temple is one of the earliest Confucian temples built in the ethnic minority areas of Southwest China, and it is a witness of the extension and development of Confucian culture in the Ming and Qing Dynasties from the Central Plains to the remote areas of the Southwest.
