The Ashqiang Temple in Banma County, about 10 kilometers southeast of the county seat, was first built in 1433. This was originally a Nyingmapa monastery, but it was later changed to a Jonang sect monastery.

The Juonang Sect is a unique sect in Tibetan Buddhism, which began in the Song Dynasty, flourished in the Yuan Dynasty, and declined in the Qing Dynasty. Today, the Jonang Sect has basically declined in Tibet. There are still Jonang Sect monasteries in Guoluo Prefecture of Qinghai Province and Aba Prefecture of Sichuan Province.

The symbol of the Juonangpai temple is the uniquely shaped pagoda, from the base of the pagoda to the body of the pagoda, each layer is inlaid with lace, and there is a pair of "Buddha eyes" on the top.
