Atushi Grand Canyon is located in Tugumaiti Township, Atushi City, 38 kilometers away from Atushi City.The original name of Artush Grand Canyon is "Gayi Paqimu", which is a Uighur language. "Gayi" means a place where people live. A loyal follower of Sulitang Shatuk, the third generation of Khan King of the Khan Dynasty, fled here after following Shatuk’s failure in the battle. Later, he died in Kayi and was buried in Kayi. To commemorate her, her name was used as the place name. Legend has it that the Artush Grand Canyon was a key battle for Shatuk to turn the tide and seize power.
