Linxia was called Hezhou in ancient times, and Hezhou was especially famous for "Bafang", so "Bafang" and "Hezhou" became another name for Linxia at the same time. As early as the Tang Dynasty, businessmen and religious figures from Dashi, Persia and other countries had been doing business and settled in the Bafang area, and gradually built eight temples and teaching workshops, forming a "living around the temple and doing business around the workshop". It is a residential area, so it is named "Bafang", which means "Jiaofang" and "Fanfang".
