It was built by Fan Zhongyan Shuyanshi (1040-1041), a famous general in the Northern Song Dynasty. The original site was a four-sided platform made of loess rammed and reinforced with bricks. Its location is excellent. Although it is not on the top of the mountain, it has a wide field of vision. Once the beacon fire is lit, everyone in Sanchuan will know it, and it can serve as an alarm to defend against the enemy. The beacon tower is an ancient alarm device. If there is an enemy situation, it will be lit at night as a signal, and firewood or wolf dung will be burned during the day to generate smoke. It is said that when wolf dung is burned, the smoke is more intense, which is easy to observe, so there is a saying that "the wolf smoke is closed at the border."
