A famous Buddhist Zen temple in China, an important town of northern Buddhism, the seat of the Zhaozhou ancestral court, and the Hebei Provincial Buddhist Academy and Hebei Institute of Zen Studies. The current abbot is Zen Master Minghai, and there are more than 160 resident monks. It is located in the southeast corner of Zhaoxian County (called Zhaozhou in ancient times) in Hebei Province, facing the first bridge in the world - Zhaozhou Bridge.
The main hall of the temple, Pu Guangming Hall, covers an area of 435 square meters. It is a palace-style building with a wooden structure and single eaves, covered with yellow glazed tiles, which is majestic. The hall enshrines the 3-meter-high, 10-ton sitting statue of Sakyamuni Buddha and other statues of gods and Buddhas carved from marble. The Puguang Temple is connected to the mountain gate through a stone road about 7 meters wide and 100 meters long. Six pairs of stone lamp buildings imitating the Tang Dynasty are set up on both sides of the road. The thousand-year-old cypresses that have gone through vicissitudes complement each other. As soon as you enter the mountain gate, you will step into the pure Buddha land, which is in sharp contrast with the secular world outside the mountain gate.
