Located at the foot of the Big Wild Goose Pagoda, the North Square of the Big Wild Goose Pagoda is one of the larger Tang culture-themed squares in China. The square is composed of a musical fountain in the center and the "Grand View Garden of Opera" and "Grand View Garden of Folk Customs" on the east and west sides. On the pedestrian street next to the square, there are also a series of sculptures reflecting the life scenes of the people in the Tang Dynasty.
The most attractive thing for tourists in the square is the "musical fountain" located on the central axis. During the performance, the fountain has a variety of styles, especially the night performance, which is even more radiant under the illumination of the background lights. Every evening performance, the square is crowded with people. If you plan to watch the performance at this time, it is recommended to arrive in advance to avoid crowding and affecting the viewing. Each fountain takes about 25 minutes.
On the east side of the square is the "Grand View Garden of Opera" that highlights the local characteristics of Shaanxi. In the garden, there are sculpture groups such as painted sculptures of operas and cast copper reliefs of local operas. Strolling among them, the sculpture group composed of many traditional operas of Qin Opera, such as "Wudianpo" and "Zhan Li Guang", shows the charm of "Great Qin Opera".
On the west side of the square is the "Folk Grand View Garden" with the theme of Shaanxi folk culture. There are vivid sculptures in the Grand View Garden, such as: shadow puppets, Shaanxi Eight Great Monsters, Stilt Walking, Rural Marriage and Bailuyuan series, etc., showing the folk customs of various parts of Shaanxi .
There are some restaurants and restaurants in and around the square, but the prices are slightly more expensive than ordinary areas in the city. There is a KFC restaurant on the east side of the square. Starting from the square, walk west along Xiaozhai East Road for about 10 minutes to the Shaanxi History Museum.
