Heiquan Reservoir is located on the Baoku River in Datong County in the north of Xining City, next to the G227 Highway. Tourists usually pass by here when traveling from Xining to Menyuan. The reservoir is built on the mountain, and it feels like a high gorge coming out of a flat lake. The water surface is open, the lake is green, the surrounding grasslands and trees are lush, and the environment is very beautiful.
Heiquan Reservoir is generally not used as a special scenic spot for sightseeing. Tourists stop to take pictures when they drive from Xining to Menyuan. Autumn is a good time to take pictures, when the surrounding trees turn yellow and the scenery is gentle. Every time the sky is clear and the lake is calm, the water surface reflects the blue sky and the surrounding mountains, and you can easily see a beautiful movie with just one touch.
