The Yarlung Zangbo Grand Canyon is a horseshoe-shaped canyon around Namjagbarwa Peak, and it is also the Grand Canyon of the world. There are many kinds of scenery in the valley, and you can watch Namjagbarwa, Yajiang Niyang River, ancient villages and so on. It was shortlisted in the selection of China's canyons by "China National Geography", attracting many tourists to come and watch.
Part of the Yarlung Zangbo Grand Canyon is currently open to tourists. There are mainly land tours, water tours and hiking. In the scenic area, you need to take the vehicles and boats operated by the scenic spot, so it is more convenient to buy a package ticket. There are several main ways to visit the Yarlung Zangbo Grand Canyon:
road trip
The road tour starts at the gate of the Grand Canyon Scenic Spot in Nyingchipai Town. Take a sightseeing car to enter the scenic spot. The car is equipped with a guide to explain the whole process. The round trip is about 50 kilometers. When you stop at the scenic spot, tourists get off the car and take pictures. There are four scenic spots in the scenic spot. The first scenic spot is the thousand-year-old mulberry tree, which is said to have been planted by Songtsan Gampo and Princess Wencheng. The trunk is huge and covered with khatas. Behind the tree is the Nanga Bawa Snow Mountain. Looking down, you can see the beautiful villages by the river in the canyon. If you come in March and April, the peach blossoms are in full bloom, and the green fields by the river are very beautiful, which is a good opportunity for photography. The second is the Namjagbarwa Observation Deck, which has a good view of Namjagbarwa. However, this Chinese snow mountain is not very visible every year. Most of the time, the entire snow peak cannot be seen, and some good luck is needed. The third viewing platform is the canyon bend. This is not the legendary Namjagbarwa bend, but you can also see the angle of the river turning and the winding mountains, and you can take pictures. The last stop is Zhibai Village, the destination, which is also a good place to watch Namjagbarwa, where you can enjoy the magnificence of the snow-capped mountains from a lower place. Zhibai Village can stay overnight and is also the starting point for hiking. After watching Zhibai Village, you can take the shuttle bus back to the entrance of Pai Town.
The meal included in the scenic spot ticket is a buffet lunch, which can be full, and the meal is at the entrance of the scenic spot.
Water and land transport route
There are two ways of water and land combined transport routes, boat in and car out and car in and boat out.
To get in and out of the boat, you have to board the boat from Niang’ou Wharf, which is about 50 kilometers away from Bayi Town (this section of traffic requires a chartered car or self-driving), and take a yacht to visit the scenery of the Niyang River and the waterfalls, villages, and mountains on both sides of the boat. The cruise takes about 1.5 hours and ends at the entrance of the Grand Canyon Scenic Spot in Pai Town. Then enter the scenic spot in the same way as the road tour. After the tour, there will be a special bus to send tourists back to Bayi Town.
When entering or exiting by car, buy a ticket directly in Bayi Town and then board the tourist bus in the scenic spot. First visit the Grand Canyon scenic spot, and then take a cruise ship. The tour ends at Niangou Wharf, and you need to solve the transportation back to Bayi Town by yourself.
The departure and departure times of the two tour methods are determined by the scheduling of the scenic spot, and it is not possible for tourists to start when they arrive, so they need to be communicated in advance.
walking tour
There are very few people walking on the hiking route, and the difficulty is relatively high. It is only suitable for backpackers and outdoor enthusiasts. The starting point of the simpler hiking route is Zhibai Village deep in the Grand Canyon (that is, the end point of the sightseeing car). It usually ends at Jiala Village deep in the Yarlung Zangbo Grand Canyon and then returns on the same road. The round trip is about 40 kilometers, and it takes two In about 10 days, there is a village of Gala where you can stay for one night. During the hiking trip, you can see the big bend in the canyon, have a better view of the Namjagbarwa Snow Peak, the more simple and primitive Tibetan villages, and you can look at the Jiala Bailei Snow Mountain from a distance, and experience the beauty that ordinary tourists cannot see view. After the hike, return to Zhibai Village and take the scenic shuttle bus to go out. Most of the hiking routes are mountain roads with a certain intensity, so you need to be mentally prepared. 3. In Pai Town, you can have local people's cars to take people into the scenic spot. You can consult in the town in the early morning, evening or when you don't want to take a sightseeing car.
4. There are a lot of leeches during the hiking trip, so be prepared mentally and equipped.
