Changhu Lake is located in the mountains and forests at an altitude of 1700 meters. The entire scenic spot includes Changhu Lake, Yuanhu Lake, Dajian Mountain, Erjian Mountain, Sanjian Mountain, Dushi Mountain, Mopan Mountain and other scenic spots. The lake water is supplied by the dark river, which is clear and transparent. It is a karst lake formed by stratum faulting.
Surrounded by green hills, Changhu Lake has a plant coverage rate of over 95%. From the lakeside to the top of the mountain, the vegetation is distributed in belts, followed by lawns, green pine forests, and oak miscellaneous forests. On the north side of Changhu Lake, Dajian Mountain, Erjian Mountain, and Sanjian Mountain are winding and parallel, with green mountains and green forests, and a majestic shape. On the south side of Changhu Lake, there is Mopan Mountain, with green pines and emerald greens. The top of the mountain is flat and looks like a millstone in the distance. The highland under Mopan Mountain extends into Changhu Lake to form a peninsula. Depression lakes form a wonderful landscape with islands in the lake and lakes in the islands. The beauty of Changhu Lake is not only the clear water, but also three small islands with lush green trees and strange rocks scattered on the emerald green lake, just like a fairyland in Penglai.
Changhu Lake not only has beautiful natural tourism resources, but also has rich ethnic customs resources. Most of the villages around Changhu Lake are inhabited by Sani people of Yi nationality who are good at singing and dancing. Due to the relatively high proportion of ethnic minorities in mountainous areas, the Sani people here have more simple folk customs, more traditional costumes, and more rustic flavor of singing and dancing than Sani people in other areas. Every Torch Festival and other traditional festivals, the Sani people here will gather together to hold bullfighting, big three-stringed dancing and other very ethnic celebrations.
