Foguangyan Scenic Area is known as "the first garden in Danxia" and "a unique red scene". Landforms, strange peaks and rocks, cliff caves, Wuzhu Peak, Bailong Waterfall, Danxia Castle, Camellia Forest and more than 30 beautiful landscapes and wonders, including Xiaojinyigou, Paradise, Sun Valley, Liyuangou, Leopardgou, etc. Composed of five major scenic spots, covering an area of 20 square kilometers, it integrates six characteristics of novelty, strangeness, danger, beauty, seclusion and wildness. It is an important part of Chishui National Key Scenic Spot and a rare boutique natural eco-tourism scenic spot.
The exposed strata of Foguangyan Scenic Area are all red sedimentary rocks of Jurassic and Cretaceous fluvial and lacustrine facies. Under the comprehensive physical and biochemical effects of differential weathering, gravity collapse, wind and rain intrusion, etc., this special landform forms countless strange Danxia landforms such as pagoda, castle, needle, column, rod, square mountain, peak forest, etc. In the landscape, there are countless Danyan cliffs, strange peaks and rocks, and cliff caves. The earth and cliffs present a bright red color. Therefore, Foguangyan scenic spot is known as "one of the scenic spots with the best development of Danxia landform, the most uniform exposure and the most typical characteristics in Chishui and even China's Jurassic and Cretaceous periods".
The Danxia landform environment in the scenic spot has a lot of water conservation, complex and diverse climatic conditions, extremely well-developed water-reducing caves and springs, large stream drops, and many waterfalls; there are more than 2,000 types of plant groups, more than 20 rare plants, lush plant growth, and high forest coverage. More than 95%; there are more than 400 kinds of wild animals, more than 10 kinds of rare animals, diverse populations, rapid reproduction, large numbers, and complete natural ecosystems. The local agricultural proverbs such as "One mountain has four seasons, ten miles of different weather", "It snows on the Peach Blossom Mountain at the foot of the mountain", "Monkey forest, wild boar nest", etc., just become the most true portrayal of the natural ecology of the scenic spot.
