Chongsheng Temple is located 1.5 kilometers north of Dali Ancient City. It was a royal temple during the Dali Kingdom. It is adjacent to Erhai Lake in the east and Yingle Peak in Cangshan Mountain in the west. The scenery is very beautiful. The Three Pagodas used to be part of the Chongsheng Temple. The temple we see today is rebuilt, and the Three Pagodas are relics with a history of thousands of years. They are also the biggest attraction here.
Scenic route
Entering the gate of the scenic spot, you can see the three towers on the steps of the central axis of the scenic spot. The big tower in the middle of the front is called Qianxun Tower, and it stands on three legs with the two small towers in the north and south, which is quite majestic. The shape of the Three Pagodas is similar to that of the Small Wild Goose Pagoda in Xi'an. The best place to take pictures of the Three Pagodas is the "Three Pagodas Juying Pool" in the Three Pagodas Reflection Park behind it. Take pictures here.
Bypass the Three Pagodas and walk along the central axis. Along the way, you can see the Nanzhao and Dali cultural relics unearthed in the process of repairing the Three Pagodas in the Cultural Relics Exhibition Hall. In the Bell Tower, you can see the 16-ton Nanzhao Construction Great Bell. Watch the Rain Copper Guanyin in the Rain Copper Guanyin Temple, and finally come to Chongsheng Temple.
Chongsheng Temple
Today's Chongsheng Temple was rebuilt in 2005. It has a large scale, and you can feel the grandeur of the royal temples in the Nanzhao and Dali periods. There are more than 10,000 various dragons in the temple, which is the temple with the most dragons in the country. In addition, there is the largest cowhide drum in the country with a diameter of 3.1 meters in the temple. It is made of a whole piece of cowhide, which is worth seeing. If you have enough time, it is recommended to go ahead and climb up the Wanghai Tower in the innermost part of the scenic spot to overlook Erhai Lake and Dali City. The scenery is better as you go up. It takes about an hour to climb up.
