Chubu Monastery is located on the upper reaches of the Chubu River in the northwest of Dulongdeqing County, 60 kilometers west of Lhasa. It was established by the first Dabao Dharma King Dusum Khyenpa in 1189. It is the main temple of the Karma Kagyu Sect. land. Here, the elderly first Karmapa Dusum Khyenpa handed over the letter predicting his own reincarnation to his disciple Zhuogun Dechen, creating the reincarnation system of Tibetan living Buddhas that has attracted worldwide attention.

Chubu Monastery faces south and is surrounded by mountains on three sides. With the Dukang Hall as the center, the main hall is surrounded by four Zhacang buildings. Together with the scripture hall, shrine, monk's house and the tall Buddha exhibition platform on the south bank of the river, it forms a majestic complex. Spectacular ancient Buddhist temple. In front of the temple gate is a large square. In the center of the square stands a stone stele "Jiangpu Temple Construction Stele". This stele was erected in the 9th century during the Chizu Dezan period. , Religion, and culture are rare and important historical materials.

Walking up the 24 steps of the square is the main building of Chubu Temple, the "Dukang Hall". The hall is three stories high and has a square layout. The interior of the scripture hall is gorgeously decorated, and the walls are painted with murals such as sixteen arhats. Climbing up from the back of the scripture hall is the Sangye Dogon Buddha Hall. In the center of the hall are statues of Sakyamuni, Amitayus and the 16th Karmapa Living Buddha. On both sides of the Buddhist hall are large Buddhist niches with walls, in which more than a thousand Buddha statues are enshrined. On the side of the hall is the spiritual tower of the 16th Karmapa Living Buddha. The second floor of the Dukang Hall is the courtyard of the Great Sutra Hall, and to the south there is a room where the 17th Karmapa Living Buddha touches the roof for worshipers. The third floor of the main hall is mainly the bedroom of the 17th Karmapa and the scripture room filled with various Buddhist classics, also known as "Bei Zhuo Kang".

On the west side of Chubu Monastery, there are two white pagodas wrapped in gold and silver. According to legend, they were built by Du Songqinpa, the master of Chubu Monastery. The front tower has a square base, and the top is a vase-shaped tower body; the base and body of the rear tower are square, with a simple shape. Behind the temple, on the side of Jiari Tuqie Qiongbo Mountain, there is a white building: Zhuokang, which is the place where monks of Chubu Temple practice. All are worth a visit.

Chubu Monastery has a large number of rare cultural relics. The silver statue made by the Eighth Karmapa to commemorate his master is the treasure of Chubu Monastery. "Empty living Buddha" said. In addition, the Chubraqian (that is, the big Buddha) cast by the second Karmapa, the stone statue of Machagara, the bowl used by Milarepa, and the hat of Dusumqinba are all miraculous figures of the Chubu Monastery.
