Huanglong Waterfall is one of the five major waterfalls in the ground. The waterfall water flows down a bell-shaped orange-red travertine body with a drop of more than 60 meters. Since the pyrite (FeS2) contained in the Permian coal seam is easily oxidized and hydrated into iron oxide or hydroxide under surface conditions, the stream upstream of this waterfall just originates from or passes through the Permian coal seam. It is rich in ferric iron, so the travertine body formed by the calcium precipitation in the waterfall is orange-red due to the iron content. In addition to the long-term erosion of the waterfall, the rolling stones at the bottom of the valley turn orange-red due to iron staining, so it is named Huanglong. Fall. Under the sunlight, the waterfall splashes, and the rainbow appears. In addition, the iron dyes the bottom of the valley, and the rocks are colorful and magnificent.
If you look at the bottom of the waterfall from the covered bridge, the travertine body resembles a "golden turtle" with its head raised, enjoying a bath in the clear waterfall, so this scene is also called the golden turtle playing waterfall.
