Dali Museum, founded in 1986, is a local comprehensive museum with Bai ethnic characteristics, mainly collecting bronzes, ceramics, stone carvings and other historical relics from the Nanzhao Dali Kingdom period.

Dali State Museum has a total of 12 exhibition halls, 8 of which are long-term exhibition halls. The collection in the museum is rich, mainly including Dali bronze drums and horse-patterned copper axes from the Warring States period, paddy field models, pottery houses, pottery figures, pottery horses and various inscriptions from the Western Han Dynasty to the Jin Dynasty, and Acuoye from the Nanzhao Dali Kingdom period. Buddhist statues of different textures such as Avalokitesvara and Maitreya, as well as Vajra Conquering the Demon Pestle, pagoda molds, Dali manuscript scriptures, Yuan and Ming porcelains, and the marble painting "Peacock Opening its Screen", etc.

The building of the museum has a distinct architectural style of the Bai people's houses of "three squares and one screen wall, four in one and five patios". The layout adopts a symmetrical form, and the central axis is followed by the gate, the stone arch bridge, the living room, and the screen wall. The whole building complex is integrated, surrounded by green pines and cypresses, and the environment is elegant. It can be called a huge temple of Bai architectural art.
