Daqing Museum, formerly known as Daqing Exhibition Hall, was established in 1964. It is located in Sartu District, Daqing City, Heilongjiang Province. It is a comprehensive museum integrating ancient environment, ancient animals and ancient humans. The construction area of the exhibition hall is 18,700 square meters. The exhibition hall covers an area of 12,000 square meters, with a collection of more than 100,000 fossils and 43 species. The basic displays of the Daqing Museum mainly include "Natural Environment of the Quaternary Period in Northeast China", "Mammals of the Quaternary Period in Northeast China" and "Ancient Human Civilization in Daqing Area". The Daqing Museum has wolf fossils and hyena fossils in its collection, as well as mammoth and Songhua River mammoth fossil skeletons. It fills in the gaps in the systematic collection of Quaternary mammalian fossils in Northeast China. In December 2014, Daqing Museum was rated as the sixth batch of provincial patriotic education bases in Heilongjiang Province. In 2015, Daqing Museum was rated as the 2015-2019 National Science Popularization Education Base. In May 2017, Daqing Museum was promoted to the third batch of national first-class museums.
