To the west of Pengyang City, there is a towering mountain, steep and straight, standing majestically. This is Dengzhan Mountain, commonly known as Xishan Mountain. Shandong is connected to the city, the west of the city is surrounded by mountains, and the mountain and city are integrated into one.

In the Tang Dynasty, Pengyang was the government of Baiquan County, and a city was built. In the Song Dynasty, due to the needs of military defense, the city walls were expanded, forming the current pattern. Up to the Ming Dynasty, the buildings were abandoned, and Pengyang City suffered from wars, banditry, earthquakes and other disasters repeatedly. Guancheng was dilapidated and gradually desolate and depressed. Although the town has disappeared, the momentum of the city wall still exists. In the past, because there were temples built in the mountain, it was also called Niangniang Temple Xishan.

There is another legend about the origin of Dengzhan Mountain. According to legend, in the late Qing Dynasty, a Hubei feng shui master named Zhao Mazi passed by Pengyang. Gu Dongliu. Its mountain lapels with an ancient city, shaped like a lamp, is a rare treasure land of geomantic omen. Then he said to the local people: Xishan is the Dengzhan Point, which is the pulse of the rise and fall of Pengyang. If oil is added to the lamp, the wick is pressed, and the oil enters the lamp booth, Pengyang will prosper. People didn't know what to say at the time, but the name "Dengzhan Mountain" spread from then on.
