Dorjizha Temple is a well-known monastery of Tibetan Buddhism and one of the six major Nyingmapa monasteries. "Duoji" means "King Kong", and "Zha" means "Stone Mountain". The name of the temple is named after the natural King Kong figure on the back mountain, which is translated as "Duojizha Temple". Dorjizha Temple, the full name of Tudeng Dorjezha Temple.

Dorjizha Temple was built at the end of the sixteenth century by Tashi Daojie. In the late 16th century, Tashi Daojie, the ruler of one of the original 130,000 households of Latchujan, was defeated by Xinshapa Tsedan Dorje, and the land under his jurisdiction was also occupied by the Xinshaba family. So he preached everywhere and organized the Sangha - the Aiwang Mission. Later Tashi Daojie founded the Dorjizha Temple on the north bank of the Yarlung Zangbo River in the south of Lhasa.

The monastery pays equal attention to both the Sutra and the Confucian Dharma, and the Nyima School’s teachings of the Far Chuan Buddhist Speech Department are inherited into a school of their own. There are more than fifty volumes of termas collected by Dujie and other Tertons.
