Baxian Mountain Forest Recreation Area used to be one of the three major forest farms in Taiwan. According to literature records, this mountain was discovered in 1911. Because of its elevation of about 2,410 meters, it is a homonym for Eight Immortals, and it has been named "Baxian Mountain" since then. The forestry mining history of Baxian Mountain began in 1917, and now the wood factory has been changed into Baxian Mountain Forest Recreation Area.

The Baxianshan National Forest Recreation Area is surrounded by mountains. From the top of the mountain, you can overlook the continuous mountains such as Yushan Mountain, Nenggao Mountain and Qilai Mountain. The forests in the mountains are verdant and there are many birds. The water vapor in the forest combines with the plants to emit abundant anions and phytoncine, which is beneficial to human health. If you live in the city for a long time, you may wish to come here to enjoy the lung-cleaning breath. The Shiwen Creek and Jiabao Creek in the park converge. The stream comes from deep mountain forests. The stream is full of rocks of all sizes and torrents everywhere. The landscape is unique. It is known as "Taiwan's Two Famous Springs". The beautiful scenery of Baxian Mountain makes people linger and forget to return. It is the best resort for mountaineering, forest bathing, bird watching and vacation.

In addition to the charming natural landscape, the tourist attractions in the recreation area are also very rich. The park has specially planned three forest bathing trails for this purpose. Among them, "Mengzong Bamboo Forest-Shrine and Elementary School Site" follows the route to visit the monuments selected as the eight scenic spots in Taiwan, the site of the shrine, and Jinghai Temple. The prosperity of the past can be seen faintly, along the way there is a large deep bamboo forest and the giant Xiao Nan tree, and the climbing entrance of Baxian Mountain is also located here. The other two "Shiwen Riverside - Upstream" and "Downhill Stairs - Dam Area" follow the stream, which are refreshing water trails, especially suitable for summer.
