Er Temple is located on a hillside in Bairong Village, Qumei Township, Shigatse City, 27 kilometers away from the urban area, and can be directly reached along the 318 National Highway to the south.

The full name of Er Temple is "Russian Aiwang Qudan Temple", which is one of the two main temples of the Sakya Sect of Tibetan Buddhism. The temple was first built in 1429 A.D., and the founder was Erqin Dorji Qiang Gongga Sangbu, the 21st master of the Sakya Temple. Due to its close relationship with the central government of the Sakya Dynasty and the Yuan Dynasty, it was once a must-go place for Sakya monks from Tibetan areas, Qinghai, Gansu, Sichuan and other places to come to study and receive degrees. There used to be five Ladrangs: Tatseradrang, Kangsaladrang, Ludeng Ladrang, Pendradang, and Kangsaladrang, and their Khenpos enjoyed the treatment of Hutuktu. The present temple consists of five halls, two sutra halls, 11 pagodas and a sutra study class, and is a county-level cultural relic protection unit.
