Fengtu Yicang is located in Chaoyi Town, Dali County, Weinan City, near the Dai Temple Building. It was built in the eighth year of Guangxu in the Qing Dynasty (1882). It is the only granary still in use among ancient granaries in my country. It took four years to build it at the beginning, and the Empress Dowager Cixi approved it as "the first warehouse in the world", and bestowed the words "tiger" and "dragon" on the top of the warehouse.
Overlooking Fengtu Yicang from a distance, Cangcheng is majestically independent on the old cliff on the west bank of the Yellow River, and the terrain is dangerous. The granary is about 14.89 meters high, 133 meters long from east to west, and 83 meters wide from north to south. Its architectural pattern is a city within a city, divided into inner city and outer city. The outer city faces east and west, leans against the mountain, and builds the city with rammed earth, which is the first line of defense for Yicang. The warehouse wall of the inner city is integrated into one, which has dual functions of defense and storage.
In the middle of the warehouse is a spacious and flat courtyard dam, which serves as a drying ground for grain. There is a channel for drainage on the top of the warehouse, with a slight slope and smooth drainage. Standing on the top of the warehouse and looking into the courtyard, all the buildings are designed symmetrically. Crenels were built on the walls so that guards could patrol the walls. Standing on the top of the warehouse, you can see the Daici Tower not far away.
