Galongla Mountain, with an average altitude of 4,800 meters, is the only mountain to drive into Medog. Its terrain is steep and complex, and the average thickness of the snow on the top of the mountain is 5 to 6 meters all year round. Pedestrians can pass only after the snow melts from June to September every year. In the rest of the time, the roads are covered with snow, the paths are unclear, the depths are unpredictable, and the roads are impassable, and the mountains are completely closed. To this day, Medog is still called "Plateau Island" by the outside world.

Galongla Mountain is located on the windward slope of the Himalayas. Affected by the warm climate of the Indian Ocean, the climate is changeable and daunting. In addition, the geological structure is complex and the activities are frequent. Avalanches, landslides, and mudslides may occur at any time. The locals call it Mount Kinabalu. The top of the mountain is covered by ice and snow all the year round, and there are several glaciers on the mountain, which melt into the tributaries of the Yarlung Zangbo River. There are glacial lakes formed by melting ice and snow on the top of the mountain, as well as alpine meadows. The wild flowers on the mountain are gorgeous and dazzling, with typical modern glacier landforms.
