The Gao Family Courtyard is located on the Halal Snack Street at Beiyuanmen. It is a brick-and-wood structure courtyard. Construction began during the Chongzhen period in the late Ming Dynasty. It basically took shape in the Qianlong period of the Qing Dynasty.

Now, in the courtyard, Chinese and foreign tourists are shown the architectural art, home furnishing, brick carving art and couplets of traditional folk houses in the Ming and Qing Dynasties from the perspective of appreciation. Various cultural and artistic forms such as puppet shows, Han and Tang songs and dances were displayed.


The ancestors of the Gao family were mainly engaged in business, and later the ancestor Gao Yuesong entered Beijing to enter the imperial edict.
