The Gao Family Courtyard was built by Gao Xiaoxuan, who opened a jewelry store in Beijing in the early years. In history, the Gao Family once built a golden pagoda for the Empress Dowager, and was rewarded by the Empress Dowager and given the nickname "Jinta Gao". Gao Xiaoxuan was originally from Shanxi, and later moved to Lianggezhuang in Fangshan County, Beijing. He settled in Zhuozhou at the end of the Qing Dynasty and built this compound, which has a history of more than 100 years. At that time, there were 63 houses built in the compound, with selected materials and excellent craftsmanship.
