The Gaojiaya complex was built by brothers Wang Rucong and Wang Rucheng from the first year of Jiaqing (1796) to the 16th year of Jiaqing (1811), with a total area of 19,572 square meters, including 35 large and small courtyards and 342 houses. On the spot, the courtyards are stacked on each other, magnificent and fully functional, inheriting the courtyard style of the front hall and the back bedroom that had been formed in the Western Zhou Dynasty.
