Garong Temple is located at the foot of the main peak of Xionglongxi Zhaga Mountain in Xionglongxi Township, Xinlong County, 40 kilometers away from the county seat. It is a famous temple of the Nyingmapa School and a key cultural relic protection unit in Ganzi Prefecture. The temple was founded in Raomaguo, Xionglongxi, by Lama Loden in 1288. In March 1860, with the support of Zhongzhan to the chieftain, the White Horse Deng Deng Living Buddha rebuilt the temple according to the pattern of the Tibetan Samye Temple. It covers an area of 480 mu, with two walls built inside and outside. There are murals of Sakyamuni and the four heavenly kings, as well as statues of Nyingma Patriarch, Sadi Five Patriarch, Kagyu Patriarch, and Gelu Patriarch; the second floor has 1022 Dharma protector statues in various poses; the third floor is the rainbow room. The top is a golden-roofed vase, which is very spectacular. Baima Deng Deng also personally wrote "Hajiawa Garong Gengba" (meaning the famous Garong Temple in the East) on the temple gate. In the temple, there is a Vajra Padmasambhava statue cast from Qamdo by the Tibetan local government.
