Gengma Zongfo Temple, Waxilimeng in Dai language, is located in the outskirts of Gengma County, Yunnan Province. It belongs to the Theravada Buddhist temple in Pali, and was established by Gengma Xuanfu Sihan during the Qianlong period of the Qing Dynasty. Hanxie presided over the construction and was abboted by Gengma Zen master Yan Yatang. It is also the place where Gengma chieftain and his relatives worship Buddha, also known as Guanmen Temple.

The Gengma Zongfo Temple includes the main hall, the hall, the precept hall, the pagoda, the monk's house, the courtyard, the wall, the temple gate and other parts. The main body of the main hall is of brick and wood structure. There are two rows of parallel huge wooden columns as the main support. The combination of the central hall and the side buildings is a triple eaves building, covered with blue and gray tiles. The hall is about 30 meters high, 15 meters wide and 27 meters long. The left and right corridors are about 3 meters wide, surrounded by a 1.5-meter-high low wall outside the corridor. Behind the Sakyamuni Buddha statue at the west end of the hall, there are eight clay statues. Except for the water god Ubaogu, the other eight statues are all Arhat statues. A hall is added outside the main entrance at the east end of the main hall. In the hall, two brick pillars about 6 meters high and 6 giant wooden pillars are erected as supports, and the ground is paved with blue bricks. The roof in the middle of the hall has a double eaves and one slope, and a rest hilltop is added above the eaves, with two slopes. Therefore, these three slopes are just staggered between the upper and middle eaves of the main hall. In addition, there are double eaves on the top of the two sides of the hall, which are connected with the ridge of the middle eaves and the ridge of the lower eaves of the main hall. This layout makes the main hall and the hall form an overlapping and scattered, magnificent appearance.
